My bike’s ready. Frey sent some pics. See them below.

I'm happy to see that there's a chain protector. I've heard stories of people losing fingers with torque sensor motors. This makes the bike much safer for me and my kids. I also like the glossy paint job. Frey did a great job of using the logo to blend the dark motor/underbody with the blue top tube. It draws attention from the fact that it's an ebike.

I'm not quite sure what's going on with the cable management upfront. Seems a bit bulky. Part of that is due to the shift sensor, the little box in front of the right handlebar. It should be moved to the rear chainstay. This is where I placed it on my other bike. Hardly noticeable. I also have concerns about bunching all the cables together. The combined weight will cause the cables to slap the head tube when going over bumpy terrain. To balance this out, the cables for the display and headlight should be routed to the other side. Maybe more.

I'll post more when it arrives. I'm curious how the M600 motor handles. Unlike the Bafang Ultra motor, the M600 doesn't provide a way to customize the torque settings. I've heard that the default Ultra settings need tweaking to give it a good feel. Let's hope that Bafang has worked out the kinks this time around.

Can't wait to read your review on this. Perhaps the shift sensor was put there due to it complaints about water/mud ingress.. which is easily rectified with some heatshrink filled with a little hot glue. Will be an interesting comparison with the am1000, i'm looking forward to getting an update on mine soon as well !

We would like to share our first FREY exchange tour schedule with you below:

FREY exchange tour in September
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Date: 14-21th,September

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is our first time to operate this kind of event, now it is under preparation phase. We will keep latest news and info update by pictures and videos for more friends who focus on FREY and FREY bikes can't attend this time. and if it goes well, it is possible that we will operate it in certain period of time, such as annual for more people can attend and join us, it can be a funny party, or organized by many customers from you together with us in the future.
Dear Frey - I think this is such an excellent idea and it must be a first for the eBike manufacturers in China. It’s really great for such an event to be organised and also gives good opportunity to those that have your bikes to provide feedback to help with future development. Are there any ‘teasers’ you can give about your new 2020 models or are they remaining top secret until next month? 😆

I bought an AM1000 earlier this year and it’s been excellent. The order process, delivery and after sales support provided through Grace have been very good. I’ve been playing with the gearing a little bit and increased the size of the chainring (from 40T, to 42T and now 46T) - for me this now puts it in my sweet spot as 60% of the time I am in the middle cog on the rear cassette (optimal chainline) but have the flexibility of the higher and lower ranges if I’m going fast on-road or making steep ascents off-road. It also means the running gear should last me longer. I’ve done 300miles of varied riding on mine without any problems. With that revised gearing it now does 40mph on the flat!

I was at the Frey event for the first two days, now back at work in Suzhou while the other guys are having fun :(

Indeed it is a well organized and very hospitable event, with the release of the 2020 models and factory tour the first day. All foreign participants had the same vibe feeling, this is a special company that builds bikes with a passion, the Frey Family.

Look forward to the stories and see the rest of the pictures and video's of the guys during the next few days.

And yes, my wife wants a CC now too

By the way, did you know Frey stands for Free Ride Enjoy Your(self, day, ride etc.).

My bike is the first HT1000 29er Frey produced apart from the prototype, the front fork had to be ordered especially.

A "standard" HT, AM or Fat will normally take 6 weeks but let me check with Ivy.

Good point to note, every Frey can be tailored to personal taste, it just takes a few emails with Ivy or Grace to get it done!!

In the factory I even saw a few fat rear, regular front tired bikes, I believe for a French customer....

They were with clear coated alu frames, I wonder how a fully polished one looks like....

Yes, a great week and a once in a lifetime experience in my opinion.

Actually both Sinbord1982 and Micah are cool guys :D .
I am sure at least one other ES forum member is attending, he may post about it after the event.

The new EX and CC models are not on the Frey website yet.....

My bike came a few days ago. Here's a video of the unboxing and assembly. https://youtu.be/BTiXsz7Nz-k

I've taken it on a few rides in the foothills and like it a lot, but with a few caveats.

Pros:
* Suspension - Very plush front and rear.
* Geometry - The slack headtube inspires confidence.
* Responsive Pedal Assist - The Torque-Sensing motor is much more responsive than the BBSHD motor (cadence sensor only). Great on singletrack. The power assist kicks in almost immediately after pushing the pedals forward. The power delivery is pretty smooth, not jerky.

Cons:
* Noise of motor - Compared to the BBSHD, which is pretty silent, the M600 puts out more sound than expected. It's pretty noticeable when in lower gears and going under 10 MPH. I think this is because it has a lot more internal gearing. It's better when going over 20 and in a higher gear. I'd give this a 7 out of 10 in the negative mark. I rode a Trek bike with a Bosch motor for comparison and the Bafang is a bit louder.
* Top Speed - The top speed for pedal and throttle assist cuts out after 28 MPH. This is a true class 3 bike if you take away the throttle. It provides about 800 watts of power for the first 10 to 15 seconds. Reaching 28 MPH is pretty easy when in Assist level 5 or when holding the throttle. But for some reason, this is short-lived and it likes to settle in around 25 MPG, even in power assist level 5. Finally, when the battery level drops below 25%, the power delivery just eeks out a max of 133 watts. When this happens, you'll definitely be reminded of the good 'ol days when you had to work to go over 15 MPH.

In summary, this is a fun bike for singletrack. The plush suspension, enduro geometry, and light(er) weight inspire confidence on steep technical descents. On loopy, twisty trails with jumps, it's an absolute blast. The power is better than what you'll find in the name brand bikes, especially at this price. But don't expect this bike to do all of the work for you, especially when going on long, sustained open stretches where you just want to go fast. If that's what you want, definitely go with this the M600's older brother, the AM1000 with the Bafang Ultra.

What did the weight end up being on your bike? I’m wondering what the difference is between the M600 and AM1000.

Beautiful bike!

Congrats.
