I live in a 55+ community and one of the few GOLF CART zones.
All the streets are paved and have built a T Bucket "golf cart" for the wife to drive around town.
Previsoly had 24v 500 cyclone geared motor with a jack shaft to increase toqure etc.
The speed was maybe 10mph at best and battery drain was bad.
Started rebuilding this bucket of bolts with an 48v 1800w motor (same as Ed the street runner)
have a 13.5 to 1 differential and using the 8 t motor sprocket and 58t drive sprocket I end up with 26 to 1 final gear ratio.
Using 29inch fat tires and desired max speed of 15mph.
need expert advice if this will work?
Am looking at weight with two people around 450 - 500lbs total

In California we have NEV's, maximum speed 25mph can drive the residential streets.

You can buy gokart shells in tbucket, but what do you want as the finished product? There's no question there's a lot of work to do for a nice one, but people do it.

Do you have any hills or significant slopes, driveways, ramps, etc to negotiate ?
I have no doubt that 1800w will move you down the road, but accelleration and climbing ability will be limited.
If it were me, i would pick a more powerful motor ( 10+kW Etech /Agni etc) that can still run 48v, but give you much more “reserve” power should you need it
I assume this is a fun “project” for you, otherwise using a existing electric Golf Cart as a base, would be an easier approach.
