This isn't the unicycle that Inventist came up a couple of years back - this is a whole new concept. Could it be the ultimate urban commuter? See for yourselves. It's only 10mph (most likely electronic limitation & weight contingent, duh), 20-mile range, 1000W motor, can hold up to 250 lbs of a person, Li-ion battery, full recharge in 2 hours, regen braking. Sure, it's no ghost rider, but it's a nifty little gadget. I've always wanted to roller skate through Central Park in the city, but never got a chance to learn - this may be something worth looking at, I think. No word on the price.

Update: looked at the company site, $1,795.00.

Looks easier to store than a segway. Pretty cool.

Exactly, just carry it in your hand / backpack and pop it out whenever your hips feel like their job is done. I wonder what motor is in there, as it as well as the battery pack can probably be upgraded to handle more speed.

Neat, but more of a novelty unless in friendly territory.

Like rollerblades, it falls between widely accepted transport models and will likely draw scorn in roadways, bike lanes and sidewalks.

Might make a good factory/campus personal-transport... e.g. bikes at Google.

Rollodo, do you really want to be going much quicker than 10mph on it though, even if you could upgrade the batteries?

Looks neat; like others have said, too expensive. Neat toy to have if you've got too much cash though lol

Actually, after thinking about it for a minute, I think it'd be dangerous to be going at 20 mph, but maybe 15 will do - basically, an average athlete's running speed.

"Average athlete" ??
15mph is Olympic pace for the mile !
Even the Best distance runners couldn't run that speed !
The "average" athlete runs closer to 10 mph.
At what speed is this Santa cruising the city? That's a bit too slow for me, and I'm not that good with measuring things without a ruler  .

10 mph is still plenty fast enough to get everybody on a crowded sidewalk pissed at you. But slow compared to a pedal bike, let alone an ebike for a longer journey. Perfect for a few situations though, especially if the destination is an office where storing it for the day is no problem. For example, maybe you work in an office, but the location is a large factory and your parking space is half a mile from the car.

Of course, in that case, you'd better be walking that half mile, or going to the gym if you don't want to die young.

This looks to be the most compact form of travel I've seen. http://solowheel.com/faqs/
I need to build one
