VOMO
https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/vomo-20mph-high-performance-electric-scooter#/story

I backed the VOMO. A friend has an Eco-Reco which is sold here in the states and this one is similar.

Paid $399 + $99 for shipping = $498 for 36v/11.5ah/350w VOMO scooter 8" wheels. Eco Reco M5 is 36v/8ah/250w 5" wheels.

VOMO is 350w vs 250w for EcoReco and has a larger battery pack. Price is also much better.

This is obviously a copy from china with a few added features.

What sold me was 8" wheels, 350w, 11.5ah, disc brakes

Figure beats me building my own.

torqueboards, what do you think the chances are that Veetron will deliver the Vomo on time? Or at all?

I ask only because I've been looking at both the EcoReco and E-twow, but as you point out the Vomo has better stats all the way around. It's half the price of the E-twow, and an even better deal when compared to the EcoReco M5.

Some may worry about a lack of suspension, but with those 8" air-filled tires it should be fine. I used to own a Currie Phat Flyer SE back in the day (around 2003) with similar tires. It didn't have a suspension and didn't need one. The tires were entirely suitable for soaking up bumps.

Anyway, I've never contributed to an Indiegogo campaign so I don't know how risky it is. On the one hand it looks like Veetron is well along with the project. On the other hand, their price (both for the campaign and MSRP) is almost too cheap. Like, suspiciously cheap. I know the EcoReco has a significant mark-up, but still...I'm wondering how Veetron makes money selling at this price.

Would appreciate any thoughts you have.

Cheers,
Maxwell Edison

There can be issues with backing certain companies but it's the risk you take --- I guesss??

I don't know they can deliver but hope they can.

I don't think it's hard to deliver considering this is a popular electric scooter brand available in China with a few modifications so I imagine production would be fairly easy to get started and get these scooters pumping out.

How they make money off of it.... Not too sure, I guess in volume it adds up but the volume was only like 100k which isn't much.

Just for general information, because of the odd pattern of Chinese naming conventions (when translated into English), the Jiangsu part of the name is the location of the company, and Go-Board is the name of the company.

We often talk about Bafang, and their official name is Suzhou Bafang Electric Motor Science-Technology Co, Ltd...with Suzhou being the city they are located in.

i agree with the other poster, almost sounds too good to be true. The LithIon batteries and the hub motor alone would cost a few hundred dollars Let us know how it goes.
