Looks great! I'm currently researching for my own build. What size pulleys did you end up using and how did you attach the wheel pulley to the drive wheel?

hehe, you really took your time :D

looks really awesome to be honest, reminds me a little of the evolve bamboos with the motor pointing away from the rear (cause of drop through i guess?), the grip tape stripes and the natural wood looks! will you upload pictures of the battery building and some abs enclosure close ups too? enclosure looks really great, extremely slim profile, looks so slim that im wondering if you sunk the battery slightly into the board? how much flex does the deck have?

awesome how low it is to the ground, thats really the beauty of a drop through setup. :)

Awesome @randyc1! Really clean and nice build! At first I started looking at the photos, and motor mounts drew my attention, I thought "hmm... they look kinda familiar", then I read Your post. I feel honoured to inspire someone  My first build (boosted look-a-like) is currently out of order, as my lipo pack died some time ago, but I have a plan, to revive it, and make it even better. I ordered 40 18605 LG HG2 cells yesterday from aliexpress for 4,5$ each with shipping (I consider this as bargain) and from my calculations 10S4P (it will be 12Ah!!!) pack should perfectly fit in my battery enclosure. I'll also mill new motor mounts, as I scratched hell out of the old ones, and will anodize them black.

Thank you whitepony and squad !

I did not sink in ,..ABS is around 2mm thick so in total Enclosure is 25mm and 31mm thick at end for Vesc, wires ect...

This leaves me with 2.5"(63mm) and 2.25"(57mm) clearance at thick end.

Made the 6061 Aluminum section of my motor mount using an ordinary Router with a spiral cutting bit using WD-40 as lub.

WD-40 does magic when working with aluminium! I wouldn't be able to cut material out of my 15mm thick 7075 motor-mounting plates with a hacksaw without this stuff!

really nice case, how did you make it? do you have a vacuum table? your board isnt probably very flexy? I ran into the problem of a semi-flexy deck vs. mounting holes in the enclosure - quite some strain on the enclosure at these points. it also seems to fit the surface of the board really well hmm :o

did you solder your 10S4P battery or spot weld? which cells did you use?

Squad:
I wanted to get my mount CNC'ed but was way to expensive so decided to try with Router ,... was suprised i how well it went, table saw and a 60t blade went well also !

The 3mm stailess steel part was made using a 35 ton punch were i work. It originally looked very basic , more like pic before i reshaped it.

Are you going to cnc your new mounts squad ?

Whitepony:

Yes i built a very basic vacum table with a slight curve but should have made it more pronounced.

My oven Lol,.. a Cardboard box lined with alum foil heated by a 1500w heat lamp , it actually got up to over 300°f !!! , did this by Garage door, had hose ready just in case . Took me 3 tries to get it right !!

And yes i bought a spot welder from Riba and Tesla cells from okashira.,...will show in next post.

I'm not quite sure, but yes I think they are from Panasonic and maybe (Panasonic-Sanyo), Okashira said they were very similar to the Sanyo GA's but with slightly less capacity, i think 3200mAh.

...I might try your sinking in trick ?,... because of concave shape of board , edges of enclosure are slightly tight, maybe Routering center out around 2-3mm will relieve a little pressure from center. Board is pretty stiff also, so might help a little like it did on yours ?

yea, maybe - if you cant model the board well you can always flatten the boards roadside to make it easier for you :)

my main issues came from from actual flexing - it was pretty hard on the enclosure. you left a pretty small lip around the enclosure for your mounting holes like I did on my first enclosure. hope it wont wear itself out like mine! :?

but you got the tooling now, easy to produce new enclosures and iterate :)

True about the enclosure stress.

Was thinking of maybe slotting the enclosure holes a bit to allow movement and loctiting the screws slightly loose ??

thats what sl33py suggested too, but then you probably end up with rattling. to avoid that, you'd probably have to use some tape between board and enclosure then, maybe neoprene/rubber band of double side adhesive. nothing is more annoying than rattling tbh :x

I made the bond of board/enclosure very strong now with screws with wide washers, lots of pressure and strong double adhesive tape between these board and case. the enclosure is now FULLY involved in flexing (which stiffens the whole thing noticeably). think there are just 2 ways - either you make it quite loose and account for the flex or you make it seriously strong and stiff!

I had planned on using this stuff that i bought at dollar store, it's this (anti slip) kinda rubbery material. Would work as kind of a buffer and stop battery from sliding around if were loose. I did'nt use since i have a tight fit as it is.

I really like that mount. I guess the plate is steel. Never see that. Nice and thin but still looks strong
