Big Bad FLAMPA MTB - LEOPARD 8072, Trampa Deck, Flame Trucks

Post by nowind » Jun 05 2016 9:06am

Building a new Board with the Leopards i tested last weeks on this build:
https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewt ... 35&t=79525

Its an mix of Parts from Trampa and from Flame.
Mountainboarding guys call it FLAMPA

Its an 16PLY Holypro Deck from Trampa and the Trucks are the Dirtpipe-V2 from Flame.
I use the Leopards with Hobbywing MAX6 Esc´s, ISO-05 Chaindrive with a reduction from 10:50, Cryptic hubs and 9Inch Striker Tires.
Powered with 8S 10000mAh 40C SLS Lipos.

Have a look on the first mock up of the Parts:

Jenso, please, stop! Why are You doing this to all of us? Don't You have better things to do? You seem to buy new trampa decks and stuff on daily schedule, like NORMAL people do grocery shopping.

LOL

Got no kids, got no credits.... what else should i do with my money :shock:
And its all about development and evolution, i would like to say i do it all for you crazy guys :mrgreen:

The Flame Dirtpipe-V2 is another concept of Truck.
They are comple engineered and produced in Germany.
I was on two Mountainboard Events last weeks and saw alot of this Flame Boards and Trucks.
Also some of this Mixes between Trampa and Flame : FLAMPA
I like the look and wanted to do something new....
But how they perform on a E-MTB i have still to sort out !

Yes got a CNC Machine @home.
Its an SK-0505-SP
Portal Mill with 500x500x300mm
http://www.skcnc.de/cnc-fraesmaschinen/ ... sk-0508-sp
But a little bit smaller, without Toolchanger and less Spindlepower... But its a nice one (-;
Bought from :
http://www.sorotec.de/shop/
If there is more interrest let me know ...

The Leopards compared to R-Spec 6372-190kv:

For Mounting the ESC and Reciever:

Made a 3mm thick carbonfibre plate, which is mounted with 3XM4 Screws to the Deck.

I use a Traxxas Reciever box which is sold as waterproof, so the reciever should be safe for riding in the rain (-;

The switches are the electronic switch of the MAX6. On/Off and calibration.

WOW ! So perfectly beautifull once again !!!

This looks insane to ride for a noob like me :lol:

You never had problem with wiring motor to esc ?
Image
cause of the mouvement between motor mount and the deck ?!..
I got this problem on all my setup (1th e-longboard and 1th e-mtb mount...)

I do this for all ... but ... hope it will works for a long time !

if you got some advices I take it :)

the trick is to fixate the motor exit wires directly with the truck before going to the ESC. that way the motor wire exits will never be under ANY movement or stress! :)

Hey.

I secure the motorwires with zipties on the Braces from the mounts.
In a way that the part which comes from motor(stiff and unflexible) is not able to move.
Movement only in the silicon wires... this way no problem anytime.

Hope you know what i mean.

I meant the same as whitepony mentioned above (-;

impressive as usual !!!! good job mate.

@whitepony: did you have any issue with these long motor wires? I thought we had to keep the ESC as close as possible to the motors.

nope, battery wires should be short or sufficiently accounted for by capacitors, motor wire length shouldnt matter one bit, since that little inductance you add with the wire is just tiny compared to the copper windings of the motor thats actually attached.

the problems I had were connected to that weird loop key that generated really high inductive voltages and finally melted. something I still havent understood - maybe it was connected to that ultra fine strand silicone 10AWG loop that I soldered to the xt90. i still havent really understood it, but without a loop key with a nice juicy spark, that thing runs like hell!

ok, many thanks for your advices Jenso &Whitepo :wink:
I see it now I will fix the wire of the motor to be sure they dont move anymore so :)

I try on my 1th e-mtb proto (with Alien ESC) all in middle box like you, work pretty well (even if I lost a motor sprocket during the ride :oops: )
the only pb was that flexibility between motor wire, and the 6 big wires across the deck...
Im sure you will find the issue soon

Having a hard time finding wheels + sprockets in general. I see your wheels on the Trampa website, what about the sprocket? Custom made?
