I'm going to build this. I thought it up a while back (maybe a couple years) and I have some ideas on how to make it work.

The first one will be too heavy (I'm going to use the 9c hub motor I have), but it seems like something like this could be built to be small and efficient.

Not sure how well it will go, but I'm going to start the project soon and keep the thread going. If you have any input go for it. If you want to steal the idea, go for it. I think there's potential if it's light enough, because it would mean electric skateboarding on any board, and when you get to the park (if you skate a park), you can use your regular board as you normally would. You can use any board or even (God forbid) rollerblades.

The first step to getting it lighter is, of course, a much smaller hub. If the one I'm making works (It will be about fifteen pounds, yuck) then I'll make a second one and focus on weight. For now I want to see if it works.
