Hi guys :D

I've been wondering lately why there is no tiny AC outrunners available. Though the efficiency drops a bit compared to DC, you can easily feed more power through them and get away with the heat (you're limited only by the copper tolerance). A downside is, it really may be a hot pot compared to classic outrunners.

What'd be the best material of choice for the cans, what could be expected from a properly designed 63mm AC outrunner? Say same size than a Carvon hub!

It's been done. It works. Tricky to get a lightweight rotor setup and not have lots of slip losses.

This! That's what made me think about AC motors. IMHO this guy has already done a nice job with his mods yet he keeps saying (he posted on a forum I don't find the thread) that it is very low powered because :
- it is not designed for anything else than test (it even randomly rubs inside)
- his "ESC" PSU is not cut for the job
- he has limited power supply available

Do you think we would get something great at this size?
