Thanks 4 the link Locke. Never knew the official story with arpa/darpa then mr gore when that was 'decomissioned'.
So I guess when people jokingly mention the interet by/for military, it's not a joke.
So why would it ever be considered unbiased and free. There's prob no way there's any info that isn't controlled by monitoring, erasure, or disinformation. That's the way I'd do it anway :p


Oops! and the 'hover bike' looks pret cool. Like what the cop rode in startrek 2009.
 
The military has always expressed its' amazement that anyone believes ARPNET was ever about them. As though anyone with a lick of sense believes that phone lines will work when the nukes are going off and EMP is everywhere. Or when ANY bombs are being dropped. Infrastructure gets hit first. It's all great fun to make fun of the military mind, but they ain't THAT stupid. It was always to make a better research connection for Universities in peace time.

The internet being what it is, there's no way of knowing Lukasik ever made the statement that's on wikipedia.
