I have an old 8' seaflea under the cottage that I havent used in years. I also have a 2 year old child. I think it would be super fun to make it electric and put around the lake on it with him. I have a 20Ah 36V ebike battery, so I was thinking I could utilize that.

The plan was to take an old 3hp outboard, tossing off the 2 stroke and puting an electic scooter motor and ESC in place of it.

I was thinking of either having a coupling made up and mounting the motor above the shaft and doing a 1:1 ratio. below is the setup I was thinking:

Is this complicating a ham sandwich? should I just get a trolling motor off of Kijiji and toss in a 12v battery?

Thanks!

i'm working on something similar.

We are in good company:

He does it 1:1

But it will not be easy.
And you may not have a lot of time on your hands with a 2yr old?
Esp fabricating the mounts and that kind of stuff.
36v and 1000w will be quite some amps (30) so use good wires and connectors.
Fun project tough.

Trolling motors are weak, like 55lbs is 500watts but it will do the putting allright.
Maybe use a dc-dc stepdown 36v to 12v? 36v/20ah
