This is the second generation of my inboard conversion where I switched to a larger controller a yu yang king using the same 48 volt 1800 w go-kart conversion kit motor. It has no problem pushing the 22 ft flat bottom boat. And the second generation I also used a belt replacing the chain drive to hopefully reduce the noise. At the end of the day I think I would love to get rid of the gear reduction and find a motor that would give me 30 kilonewtons at about a thousand rotations per second. I would like that primarily for noise I do not like the high pitch whining. Anyways here's a link to how I put the second generation together. From your experience with the hub motors you think I could get more torque for a lower RPM with one of the hub motors or a pancake motor?

At 1.8kW, a v-belt would be by far the quietest option. It's such low power transmission, especially since it's soft-start, that a single "A" size v-belt would handle it.

Let me try that next it's not like I'm trying to pull wheelies or anything lol rebelt sounds like that interesting and maybe simpler solution.

So I have to just pillow block bearings that go over the shaft and attached to that aluminum plate at the motor is mounted on so the motor actually can spin on the shaft and then I just tie it to one side for the coordinate shackle because the whole system rides on the shaft I don't need to thrust bearing at least not there I have another video that shows more how I laid it up but I try to make it simple it really just started as an experiment. I keep thinking that a bigger diameter motor with coils further out would give me more torque at lower speed and I wouldn't have to have the high pitch whining of that motor not have to gear at five to one I think it's five to one it might be six anyway thanks for the suggestions
