Has anyone taken the motor/battery/electronics/cables from a salvaged or old BEV like a Nissan Leaf or BMW I3 or similar and repurposed it into a inboard sterndrive or shaft drive motorboat? I did see someone on YT do it with a Leaf but there was very little detail of the actual conversion, just the result.
Thinking of doing this and trying to work out the amount of work involved, skills I need etc. How would I go about sorting the interface between the sterndrive and the electric motor as well as the motor mount to the hull? With a planing hull there would be some slamming and vibration so how would one mitigate those effects in terms of dampening when connecting the motor to the hull? What would need to be done to ensure the batteries have a higher waterproof rating in terms of the casing? What would be the best way of removing the old engine and inserting the electric motor given their significant weight, well, especially the former?
