Re: Electric Hydrofoil/E-Foil
I cut off the top of the index finger - and a bit the tendon - with a sanding disc, and I had allergy problems after the operation.

Hi all!
I building and documenting based on Hiorth's DIY on instructables.com.
It will be modified for water cooling and the "motor pipe" will be threaded not glued.
You can see and follow the progress here

Awesome, I used the liquid force fish foil. I chatted with Hiorth's DIY on instructables.com and they are already on V3 much different and better, you may wanna hold off on copying their V1. Im sharing my build at http://www.diy-electric-hydrofoil.com/

Well... The only difference is that we share everything without any plans to earn money on it. People are free to do whatever they like with our design. Part of the game is copying something and improving other stuff, that is the fun part of it...
And Yes we are working on V2 that is improved. You can follow the progress here (for free) https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set ... 2e97c1f9fb

Why does no-one seem to use a water cooled outrunner motor?

Re: Electric Hydrofoil/E-Foil
You should ask "Vincentbraillard" who is posting his efoil on here.. previous page, the purple one... he is thinking about liquid cooling his out-runner.slanton wrote:Why does no-one seem to use a water cooled outrunner motor?

Found another company coming out with a board, Fliteboard. Not much info other than they are Australian. Do have the motor on the foil in a different spot.

Here's their other videos:
Re: Electric Hydrofoil/E-Foil
The flite board looks nice, like how they have placed the thruster in line with the front wing. Looks more natural, in a way.
Re: Electric Hydrofoil/E-Foil
Hey Hiorth, how is the seal on your drive shaft working out? Have you ever found any water in there? Do you grease it before riding?

Re: Electric Hydrofoil/E-Foil
Finally I did my first "surfing" on my brand new machine. I really had to struggle with water leakages in the propulsion system. My 3d printed parts weren't watertight at all. I had to spray them with clear coat and silicon. Everything is fully unscrewable which is a big advantage to find the leakages and to eliminate them.
Have fun watching a total noob at surfing.

I think that your board is too small for a beginner. For a beginner, I think the volume and the width of the board must be enough to stand up on the water. It's important, because you must transfer the weight when the speed increase, and it's not possible if you're not on your legs. I think you must also change the angle of the entire mast. The foil must point upwards, in reaction the nose of the board will go down and the stance will be more flat and easier to ride.
If you're planning hollidays in Vendee, Frankreich, let me know!

Re: Electric Hydrofoil/E-Foil
Waterfox: NO issues with the seals, but you should grease them up from time to time.
Very nice superlefax! If you make a bigger board it will be much easier to ride
Cheers

Re: Electric Hydrofoil/E-Foil
@Hiorth: but the small board fits perfectly in my car

Re: Electric Hydrofoil/E-Foil
Yes ! Congratulations . The foil etc looks great, you just miss some surfing experience. I kitesurf for about 20 years, but foiling took me a few days to learn it. Keep trying and keep the board flat directly when it will come up, lean forward. And try standing with knees bending.
But first, make me that setup also
Im willing to pay for it, it will save time and other investments

The V2 is looking fantastic! Did you do the machining and anodizing or did you get it done elsewhere?Hiorth wrote: And Yes we are working on V2 that is improved. You can follow the progress here (for free) https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set ... 2e97c1f9fb

Was it quite cost effective or expensive?Hiorth wrote: Thanksnope ordered from a supplier.
Did you just glue the joint between the housing and the mast mount again?
