Hello everyone,
there are many ebikes, but only a hand full like this one. Thats why I would like to pass on my experience and share my passion for the concept.

IDEA: Take your DH-bike and convert it into an electric MotoCross bike within only a few hours.

My Bike:
Its a Solid Strike L/XL frame with 26" wheels. 200mm Travel in the front and rear. 40mm wide rimms (Spank Stiffy) with 2mm spokes. Fork: Rock Shoxx Boxxer, Shock: Mazzochi with 3.0 x 600 lb feather.

Description:
It runns on 16s LiFePo4 15Ah and the current is limited to 150A.
Max Power is 7,2KW or 10HP.
Max speed is only 71,5km/h, but the acceleration is brutal! Wheelies on demand until 55km/h :)

Due to the current limitation, each engine is now fed with only 75Amps - but is rated for over 150A peak. Remooving the current limitation would doubble the power and make the bike totally crazy :)

The engines are 2 x Hacker Q-80 M.

The bike weights about 30kg only. I am now building a 12s LiPo battery with 32Ah or 48Ah, that should extend my range to about 50km or 75km.

Experience and advices:
To handle this much torque, its necessary to have a long bike frame with a low centre of gravity. My previous bike frame (S) was too unstable at high speeds and was constantly ripping wheelies during ordinary acceleration. Now with the long frame, I am fully in control of the power and can even drift, without loosing controll.

Has anyone else made a simmilar conversion?

Very interesting! Is rolling resistance a concern? Water ingress? The width of gear has potential for flying debris to lodge in from other riders. Still very cool lightweight setup.

thank you - yes I love this bike. My first e-bike is also a fully with a Cyclone Mid Drive and 1KW. It was a very efficient type of riding, whereas this bike is a monster. I have several videos with full speed runns on a flat surface. Max speed is only 71,5 km/h, so its nothing outstanding. The outstanding thing is that it goes from 0-60 in under 3 secconds!!! :D Today I have been riding 40km through forests and muddy terrain. In the end it started raining, so got my face and back wet. Need to make both mud guards larger. The electronics and both controlers are hidden under the seat. Water can only reach it from the top. But ordinary tape should make it 100% splashproof.
I mostly ride the bike offroad and wet conditions - its raining a lot here in Germany at the moment. At higher speeds, small rocks are flying arround, but the engine mount is designed very well, and does cover the gear and the steel pinion. Never had a stone in my gears - and I made already more than 250km offroad! I think that the reason is the centrifugal force, that makes it for dirt or stones impossible to get into the gears. While the whole bike is dirty, the gears are always the cleanest part :)
Drag: Compared to my Mid Drive e-bike, there is a very substantial drag. Also the total weigt of 32kg and the 2,5" tires inflated to only 2bar are not making it easy to peddal. However, I see it as a Dirt Bike with peddal support. If you unplug the batteries, you can easily ride it through the city centre or in public as if it was a normal bicycle.
Range: On the flat surface (tarmac) I have arround 30-35km range, using only 12Ah out of 15Ah. I never fully discharge the LiFePo4 batteries. Today I have recharged my batteries from my rucksack, where I had a 6s 32Ah Lipo battery and a Junsi 4010 Duo Charger. The whole stuff weights approx. 6kg: Lipo 4kg + charger 2kg. Recharging takes me 25 minutes for 12Ah.

I'm fascinated. Does the drive unit just attach to the spokes with out locking into the hub at all?
 
The big black plastic ring (the gear ring) is attached to the spokes only. The spokes need to be 1,8mm - 2,00mm thick. The engine with it´s pinion gear lies on top of the gear ring and moves with it (it is floating on top of it). The engine has 2 x big ballbearings on the top and on the bottom, which are running on two rails on the plastic gear ring. In theory, you can use a bigger pinion gear for more top speed, but for me 75 km/h is enough :)

New Battery:
I am currently building a new Lipo battery 12s6p with 48Ah and over 2.100KWh. I am expecting a top speed of over 80km/h, even more brutal acceleration and a range of +80km. The battery case will be made from fire proof Dupont Kevlar / Aramid fabric. I will be using Hobbyking Multicopter 6s 16.000mAh Battery packs, that seeem to be great for the maximal current of just over 3C.

Looks like an awesome kit! I'm just starting a LMX build which is similar in that it's slanted more towards moto. Loving the power-cross idea....I hope it catches on.

UPDATE: Today I am making a Kevlar Battery case for my LiPos. It will be 12s 32Ah LiPo packs with 1.300Wh and only about 8,5-9KG. Pictures will follow soon. I am expectiong a higher top speed and better acceleration due to lover voltage sag under load.. :D
 
I sure will. Just took it on it's first ride today. A lot to still dial in, especially getting the controller (adaptto to run smoothly). Also using a 52v pack from another project till I can build a proper pack at 72v. So far it's tons of fun!

I have Been looking at the kit if you buy the kit with the one motor can you upgrade to the twin motor at a later date and use the same speed controller
or do you have to buy another controller ?

You have some special DH extra hard spokes?

What's interesting to note from this video is that some bikes have motor's on both sides, but others just have one. I guess there are applications for both.
It's also interesting that the people in this video are never pedalling....I mean, they don't need to, but still, the point of adding these motors to a pedal bike is to have the best of both worlds. Even on my 6KW+ capable Fighter I still always pedal.

PowerKit Pro is one motor, PowerKit Race is two. 2500-3600 euros. Not cheap. Cool design, though, for sure.

Regarding pedaling: I'm with you. For me, that's a definition of an ebike, as compared to a motorcycle/enduro/scooter built on a bike frame. I have to be able to meaningfully pedal at a reasonable cruising speed.
 
Here are some pictures of my new conversion... This time I am using 27,5" wheels and bigger motors. Runns better then on 26" wheels, and the bos suspension is above anything that I have ever experienced.

Pedalling: I love the fact that you can pedal until about 55km/h and freely change gears as if it was a normal bicycle. Both drive trains work independently of each other. Especially with the 27,5" wheels pedalling is very easy. One you accelerated to 25km/h you can keep your pace with very little pedal power. This way you get an insane range from the 8kg Lipo battery pack (60-70km easily, 12s, 32Ah, Multistar LiPo).
