MSNBC: Wing Waves tap motion of the ocean

The so-called Wing Waves work by tapping the elliptical motion of waves 30 feet to 60 feet beneath the surface and converting it into mechanical energy that can be used to generate power. Like offshore wind farms, the electricity produced at sea can be routed via cables for land-based needs.

A variation of theme, and differentiated from the wave-air turbine. Still, I would be interested in how the developers plan to arrest microorganism colonies which would interfere with the system.

Swimmingly, KF

Really good point though. If it attracts fish, it is going to have all kinds of life teeming around it fast. Maybe figure out how to attract fish that will eat at the little buggers that will want a free ride? Maybe some sort of coating to ward off animals?

Maybe we could figure out how to attract fish to harvest more energy. Make each one caught have to wiggle for 10 minutes while we nab some up and down motion from them

I believe the Israeli's are using some form of wave motion to produce Electricity. :?:

Speaking of using wave motion...
