couldnt pull the xt60 out the other day, then i noticed the speed would disappear and then come back, today it died in the middle of the Pattula Bridge, after doing the walk of shame here it is

IMG_20210520_140338.jpg

cant clear the faults

IMG_20210520_134230.jpg

thinking of doing some surgery to see if its fixable

Connectorized Phaserunner Assembly.jpg

any ideas?

had to reef on the xt60 to get it out
the negative was all melted

IMG_20210520_143720.jpg

crud on the pins

IMG_20210520_143822.jpg

tried another xt60 but it was loose
going to clean it up and open up the pins to see if thats the problem

got pins open but phaserunner still isnt working

IMG_20210520_162147.jpg

one of the faults is code 1-8

last time i had code 1-8 on another pr i have, had to wait 2 days and put it in the oven to fix it
https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=109781&p=1608279&hilit=oven+rack#p1608279

going to let it sit 2 days and see what happens

battery voltage isnt being read correctly, it was initially saying 3 volts and it slowly crept up to 7.34v
the battery is about 65v right now

IMG_20210520_194700.jpg

#284, #285 and #286 should read about 65 but are at 7.78, 7.78, 7.84
picture wont upload here?

address 306, 307, 308 should be 0.51 and theyre at 0.16, 0.15, 0.16
that picture wont upload either right now, try later

very similar to the last 8-1 fault so maybe theres hope it will recover

Not a lot of power is that thing, leg muscles must be used, kinda cool for you

what the heck is that thing?
kinda cool

wheres a place thats warm all the time in Canadus

took a heat gun and heated the heatsink i made for the PR and got the PR to 63 celsius
heres a pic of its internal temp after it cooled for a bit (notice the battery voltage is still wrong)

IMG_20210522_191104.jpg

address 306,307 and 308 are no longer at 0.16,0.15,0.16 but are now at 0.48,0.47,0.48
i think it should be 0.51 but that should solve code 8-1

IMG_20210522_190854.jpg

i could clear the other low voltage error codes and get this working but ASI or Grin wont let me lower the battery settings lower than 12 volts

picture wont upload again

hey moderators, is there a limit to how many photos per post?

Yup, it's a Giant Revive. Picked it up last year. It had a 250w Hilltopper kit on it when I bought it. Basically a 250w geared 8fun motor with an on off button and a saggy 24v lion pack. Saving that kit for my kid.

I had a 24f sitting here begging to be used so strapped it to the Revive, assembled a 20ah 18s lipo pack and added proper throttle and ebrake. Haven't swapped out the motor yet, debating between leaf and mxus. As it stands, 74v hot off the charger, limited to 20 battery and 45 phase. That little bugger screams along at 30mph. Obviously not climbing any steep hills but not bad. Looking forward to the new motor though. But I digress, Nucular all the way.

wanted to see if i could get into the phaserunner and see what the yellow thing is, might be some kind of fuse

see if i can read this number

IMG_20210527_143049.jpg

couldnt find that number but this is 72v/40amp

keep looking

thought they used 2 different potting compounds, 1 for the board and a different for the form but i pulled something off on 1 side

IMG_20210527_152421.jpg

goes right to the outside surface of the potting

IMG_20210527_162827.jpg

says 151 on it

IMG_20210527_162740.jpg

might be this, 10uh Inductor Choke Coil

B1049891796.jpg

other side went ok

IMG_20210527_152451.jpg

IMG_20210527_152441.jpg

just need to dig a litte more potting out and ill unscrew the heatsink

used a T10 to get the screws out and needed to get the heatsink hot with a heat gun to soften the grip of the epoxy to pull the guts out

found a ball of solder when pulling back some potting

IMG_20210527_205826.jpg

from where the pick is

IMG_20210527_205637.jpg

cleaned up that area, nothing looks fried
cant see a reason for that solder to be there and im not going to dig around there anymore

IMG_20210527_213810.jpg

start testing i guess, its too bad i ripped that 151 part off or id try plugging it in :D

Nice autopsy pics. I take it you're past the 3 year warranty period. Did you smell anything before you had the issue with the XT-60?

Pretty incredible piece of electronics for it's capabilities. I wish Grin would come out a with a big brother version.

3yr warranty????
i thought it was only a year
hey grin, you want to send me a new one???
checked the fuse for continuity and i have continuity
ill order a 151 if digi-key has them and see if it works

noise
the trike gets noise from the motor cable at the axle over 3200 watts
the stiletto sometimes gets noise at 3500 watts
same batteries
both phaserunners both heavy gauge grin motor cable but the wires are a little tighter going through the trike/mxus axle than the stiletto/3540 motor

saw those rental bikes all over vancouver today.

gotta question
i hard wired this PR in

this new phaserunner wont turn on and off, stays on
auto tuned fine, no faults

i run 2 wire regen, i connected it black and blue
is it supposed to be black and blue or red and blue????

regen works when activated while riding but if i push the regen button with tire in air, it wants to go backwards, tries to keep bouncing backwards, release the button and virtual electronic freewheeling starts turning motor forward. tire should just stop

went for a quick test ride and a bad vibration goes through the battery box on take off????

no faults

regen is the only connection i might of done wrong

edit***

went reading the version 3- PR manual

with the new CA plug, i think its made for a ca3 and im running a ca2 on this bike
the default for the on/off is different on PR-V3

the regen is wired correct as far as i can tell

the vibration on starting off, might be able to get rid of that by changing the throttle ramp up rate from 50ms to 70ms

im thinking this PR is putting out more amps than the old one

i used my old settings
when setting up the virtual electronic freewheeling the old setting was 1.5amps for 1 rev/sec
had to lower it to 1.2amps with the new PR

i have a ca3 on the trike, if i can get rid of the shudder tomorrow then ill just swap the phaserunners between the 2 bikes so the PR3 is with the CA3 and the PR2 is with the CA2
