Segway 160 electric shock?

Sounds like a phase wire or motor coil wire is shorted to the frame, and the frame is grounded to battery negative.


Most common cause is if it has been crashed or fallen over, and it has exposed motor / controller wiring, that wiring can get damaged in a way that shorts phase wires to the frame or axle, especially if it is a hubmotor and wires come out the end of the axle.

Thanks for the reply. The Sur-Ron has a Frame mounted motor, will check with my friend about any crashes.

Um, which do you have a problem with: A Segway 160, or a Sur-Ron?

AFAICT from a quick google, they're different companies and products.

Oops, it’s a Segway 160.

Segway x160 is made by Sur-Ron.. same bike but 48v instead of 60v, etc.. how about some pics of the bike and with battery removed..
