Oatnet's Current Prototype

Post by oatnet » Jan 24 2008 2:58am

I have gone through a few iterations of prototypes, thought I'd post my most recent one. Here it is almost done, with the frame padding etc still in place.

This shows the Aluminum tray I mad to fit under the rack. It holds the controller (and acts as an extra heatsink), a switchbox with twin paths, circuit breakers, leads for 2 packs, and a 4x weatherproofed anderson plug that servers as a key and allows me to switch the packs between series and parallel. I use it to run two freshly-charged packs in series at 44.4 v until they drop to 40v, and can be run in parrallel at 80v without toasting another xylte controller.

And finally the future...

While this setup is very agile, sometimes it was just too nose happy - with a 5305 just about any bump is an excuse for an unplanned wheelie. The picture below should give a clue as to the direction of my current 5305 prototype... I've run it at 36v but it isn't pretty yet, so no current pictures.
