as it turns out, my ebiking year is just about over. shoulder surgery is scheduled for next thursday.

i've put it off long enough (7 years?) and it's just progressively gotten worse to the point that i wake up through the night w/ shoulder pain. i've got labral tears in both shoulders. i couldn't decide which to do first but i've finally decided on the left. and if it goes well i'll eventually have the right done.

i'm gonna ask doc for the video of the procedure. there are plenty on youtube, but i think it'd be fun to have my own up on gravitydreaming

i've heard this surgery has the longest recovery time because it's all cartilage and ligaments and that stuff takes forever to heal since blood flow is more limited. so any fall in the first 4 months will likely mean another surgery.

so what does this mean for biking?

of course the impact on family life is gonna be a bigger bummer. no sledding. no ebike towing sleds. no rough housing. and a thousand other routine tasks...

in the meantime, i just found a sweet spot for jumps! gonna check it out on the way home this afternoon. maybe having the surgery scheduled is a good reason to try something retarded!

Found it on this thread. I was looking for a good 20 minutes but gave up  . I found it here, http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewto ... lamination, but we now know that both motors have the same number of laminations. So it wouldn't matter where that part of the thread is. I counted 68 as well for both of them. Do your eyes hurt to  .

Sorry to hear about your shoulder, hope all goes well mate. Maybe you should try jogging to and from work? Grid lock no more

That was a great face you made at 28 seconds. Just can't help but wonder if you were making that face as you were wiping out :?:

It's funny how when I watch you flying around it makes me anxious. It's awesome how you get around through an ever changing maze of 3 to 4000 lbs (and bigger!) moving obstacles. Your quite talented. When you have a faster more powerful bike things ought to get even more wild me thinks!

Hey mate,
How are you holding up in the frakenstorm? Looking at the map, it looks like your state is just getting hammered.
My area has closed down. No buses, dealerships aren't opening, I have no class tomorrow  .

It might be for the best that you can't be out riding in that wild weather that's approaching. Looks like DC cops it quite frequently. Has that always been the case or is it just a string lately ?

thanks for the well wishes! i've got a big vial of pain killers, so life is good.

speaking of which, wtf is this??? :pancake:

anyway, i'm mostly camped out in a lazy boy chair i bought last week on CL for 75! we didn't have one and everyone i talked to about shoulder surgery recommended them for sleeping.

right now, it's hard to imagine ever having the strength again to ride my bike like a fool, but we'll see.

just now sandy started blowing hard. the city shut down well in advance, but the winds are just picking up. i figured i'd post a note before i lose power, since everyone is talking like that's inevitable.. i do not have a generator, though i could have used one this year. we have gotten some good storms lately. usually the hurricanes meander up here half dead after shooting their wad in florida. the big trees in front of our house are now gone but there are a couple nearby that might not make it through this. in my state, i wont be able to do anything if some roof comes off.

damn, youtube has live coverage on sandy if you got nothing better to do..

yeah, it's blowing nice now! i've not been worried at all, but am just starting to wonder!

peace out,

g
