Looks like your the first person to short a 4065! Congrats man. How does it feel 8) .
These things are freaking beasts aren't they? I feel like I can blast up any hill.

How are you going to have the motor rewound? You going to try and keep the winding the same?

man I don't know how you mesure it but I had 164Amp with the shunt , this thing was a beast for 300km...I wanted to play before I had time to put the thermostat...I paid the price I guess...

it was wheeling even @40km/h...the powerweigth ratio of a 350 MX...I hope to bring it back on tracks as the phoenix =)

a pro is going to do it I order the hall sensor tonight can't wait to ride it again, I 'm uploading youtube with killings hills =) I just overheated it , then hall sensors failed and one phase shortcuted ..

I wonder why the kelly diagram put a thermistor +1 K ?

i think working the throttle after killing a hall might contribute to phase failure. and i honestly don't understand how they're wired. they always seem shorted to each other!

the rust on the bearing is absolutely from heating the motor through normal extreme use and leaving no vent for air. as it cools, it sucks in moisture and rusts the bearing every time.

drill out the side covers everyone... goes a long way to prevent overheating and rust...

as for the red paint - it's only for rust protection so far as i know and yes it will insulate a bit. silicone, huh? hmm. i'd read the label and research before applying. you only need to varnish the magnets and the steel laminations. you don't need to varnish the windings...

glad to hear your spirits are up for the adventure. i usually destroy everything at least once, that's why i'm being so careful now, cause there are no replacements yet...

keep up the photos!

He does have a point. If I were you, I would unwind the motor yourself and count the turns, just to be sure. The fact that this guy doesn't know about brushless motors is pretty scary. He may think its a motor with huge stator teeth. When in reality, it isn't. Believe me I TRIED to rewind a motor but the time just wasn't there and it sure as hell wasn't easy. I am hoping he will pull through for you though. The H40 series motors truly are keepers.

yes it was first time he saw a brushless motor like that for sure,he had never open one but when we talked about the magnetic field turning and hall sensor, he got it...he 'll doing it the same way, but rewindind is his full job, for car/moto starter fridge motors...he has everything, the gauge for wire calibrating...he found defaut in the winding as on the lateral side there was no thing to isolate the winding from the stator...yes he will mark the stator, he got the fiber paper for islotating the stator, the epoxy , the varnish ....I'm pretty confident , he's a young guy , well see...I pretty trust sugar canes work...overthere you got better work buy confident people and some cash than big companies.. when my van went to an official garage it was the worst nightmare...now it is 295000kms with the cash way...people with knowledge work only for cash...tropical way

we'll see it's worth trying, I won't pay or little just for friendlyness if he missed !

by this time, just mutli flats on rear then front ....and on the evening the third with a valve broken by underpressure and 8Kw @50 kmh....the GO HARD or GO HOME WAY...

about the 1K resitor to add Fany from kelly answer :
"We specify to use KTY84-130 in the motor.
There is no pull-up resistor inside the controller. That is why the customers need to add 1K resistor for the thermistor outside."

I don't get it it's a mystery ...

not sure but remember reading about pull up resistors needed on thermistor for CA V3 - but i could be TOTALLY WRONG...

Dan I have the 4065 and am setting up my speedometer (internal) and I think I need to know the number of magnet pole pairs in the 4065.

Any ideas?

ca3
#Poles: This is the number of pulses on the Sp pad that is considered one full wheel revolution. For direct drive hub motors with a CA-DP model, it would be the number of magnet pole pairs in your hub (usually between 8 to 23).
thanks

there is 46 magnets so let say 23 pairs

@ least I guess I don't need to paint mines as the winding varnish vaporised on them :D :D :D and so they're glassed =)

in case you're going to wired the 2K crystalyte thermistor to the CA, it is wired to the ground hall, but the CA need it wired to the CA ground otherless the value can trickle

im having this trouble, i instaled a thermistor and used hall ground as my thermistor ground. ground is ground...
so whats the deal there and how did you find this out?
say ground again..

it is said in the CA manual...I understand taht when you pull Amp , you can have a fluctuent ground (some kind of return into it that make the value trickle...)

first one to crack an HS4065 axel by torsion stress ?
(actually a friend , DH champion, using throttle @starts like an MX...even if I told him to wait 5kph befor FOT...

anyone has a cheap HS axel for me ...sent a quote to kenny...

time to mount the new GNG kit...some work already done...I ll compare both for sure...the rear K2 (1998) carbon arm was to tiny to old montser hub weight/torque, I 'll put some SAINT brakes adapters outthere...

did not had the time to replace the cracked side cover that I ordered free to Kenny (due to pushing on a plate/cassette while trying to remove for paint... I pushed it the other way to get less than 1mm alignement) was ok, for those worrying about stress on side covers, here is exemple that the torque is on the magnet rings, I broke the axel with too much torque with a cracked side cover...)

let me know if the scale isn't good, I'll redo the pdf, not sure of the pdf version, choose 100% scale

some news soon, GNG + HS4065 running again for the race =)

FROTHER VALVE :D :D :D

the flow lose maybe 30% but I thin k dissipation is about the same, the other is , about dirt, does it stay inside , is the gid saturated with dust...again I did not had time to experiment, right now one side is open as I wanna be sure that the side covers arent touching hall thermal tube, as I discover that ther is like 1 or 2mm of possible movement beetween the bearings...to center the stator beetween the side covers..I mean if you see the windings nearer on side you can hammer the stator to move it 1 or 2 mm to be centered on magnest and sure that it won't touch side covers...
Image

4 small holes and 1 big holes grid fo 1 piece ...I think it's better to have outgoind biggest grid..., it was just glued with cyanolyte..

take car when removing the side covers when they 'll be drilled, as I cracked one misusing my puller on teh cassette ...

There's some types of cheese that are stronger and more durable than Crystalyte axels, they don't stand up to anything. Search for the ES member "Tench" on here, he makes custom HS/HT axels from far stronger steel with better engineering. Don't waste your time with Chinese lowest-spec garbage.
