hi guys,

i am louis raaijmakers and i am 16 years old and i live in the netherlands.
my english isn't so good i can speak it better than i write it. :)

i am goin to make my self a electric bike frame

1 or 2 weeks ago i bought 54 10 lifepo4 cells for a 72v 20 ah battery pack and 4 extra i bought it from electric...... he is frome france and it was within a week at my home.

so first i have bought a old canondale full suspention frame. when i put some forks and wheels in it it look terible.
so i am going to change it and make it diffrent.
i have found it online on a site called marktplaats.nl

yesterday i cut the headtube of the frame
also i removed the seatpost holder and the rear suspention of the bike.

today i have made the battery holder.

second fame done now i need some new second hand forks +- 200mm travel.
and maybe i am goin to change the rear suspention. :)

today i went on after my internship.
i first was figuring out how i would build the bike.

I made my own swingarm. The swingarm of my downhillbike did not allow the suspension to be outside the frame.

The fork comes from a downhill bike I bought for 600€. I am using several parts of it, as they are rigid and suitable for the heavy bike that I'm going to build.

I'm not a frame builder and only have a little welding experience, but I would take that collapse from it's own weight as a sign. I think the piece holding the TOP of your rear shock should be as short as possible without making the shock touch the frame as the suspension compresses, and add a gusset to the top of that support above, attaching to and running along the part of the main frame going to the seat tube support.

What is the wall thickness of the tubing you are using? With such a small size of tubing, I would be afraid of not having enough surface area for the welds to be strong enough, and a larger size of tubing can have a much thinner wall and be stronger than a smaller size with thicker walls.

I like your design and the amount of space you will have for batteries, but I think you will need a lot of bracing with such small square tubing.

sorry you are mis understanding.
i was done with the bike for that day and just weded it for 3 seconds and only on the rear side.
also the top mount of the rear suspention is goin to be a triangle and not a single tube as it is now.

trust me the bike is goin to be strong! (also heavy :oops: )

i wil work the whole day on it tomorow if i can get out of my bed... (party :) )

Consider moving shock attachment to between swingarms or the bottom of swingarm. Then frame end attachment point can move to stronger part of the frame and more forward for a more linear compression stroke. Stronger and lighter. I think it will look much cleaner too. Many modern motos do it that way. My computer is all screwed up and even Paint doesn't work or I would draw what I mean.

today i have been thinking alot and also have made some change's on the bike.
first i wanted to fix the rear suspention.
so i got my dad involved with this. becouse i first wanted the honda rear suspention on the bike.
but my opinion was it wasn't at the angle i wanted....
he said it was probely to stiff i also thought about this but i just wanted to try it the he said.
why not use a shorter spring so you can place it easer under the box.
so we came to the idea of ussing the old suspention. and up greading it later.

You are very talented. It took me countless hours to build my frame. You seem to be pretty fast! It is not your first project, right?
 
To me that cleaned up the lines nicely. If that short shock doesn't control the weight of a hubmotor very well, you can get rid of the extra tubing and fit the longer shock. I think that will improve the line even more, and cut out some unnecessary weight. It will also make it easier to sell when you are ready to do your next one, because the longer shock not only provides more travel, but it gives you more ability to tune the overall frame geometry. Being able to easily change the head tube angle and trail are important with ebikes, because it makes big differences in handling and high speed stability. It opens up the choices for fork selection too, because you can compensate for the effects of differences in travel and fork length.
 
hi,
acualy it is my first frame build.
the last bike was made of normal steet bicycle but is was burned.
becouse i was working on the balance leads and the whole pack burned down... only had +-1 month of fun out of it.
it was made from 18650 it was 15 ah 48v charged.

i started last week with the build on a wensday.
but it is going pretty fast.
the only time i can work on it is on monday,wensday,friday at night. or saturday if i dont work.

but i will thing about the rear suspention.
also it think the headtube from the cannondale is pretty thin. lik 1.5mm :?
i will give you a picture from that. so i am thinking to make a new head tube with a turning machine.

Welding looks good. What thickness and dimensions have these tubes that you use?
A head tube made of CrMo steel is often 1.5mm thick. My head tube has the same thickness.
