Here's the updated concept--I'm thinking aluminum might be easier than carbon--certainly cheaper. I picked up a 19" front motorcycle rim per GCinDC's comparison https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=55458. The electrics kinda terrify me! Any input is welcome!

Your going to want to maximize the leverage on the shock if it's just your body weight that's sprung.

I’m liking the concept but...
You have covered one of the most interesting parts of that frame, the curved down tube. Not every frame has that, just straight tubing.

What is the rear shock for? The seat?

Yup, saddle suspension. I'm no designer! ... wait, I *am* a designer! I'm a user interface designer, not a mechanical designer :| Hell, I just thought it looked cool.

Yeah, I love the board tracker frames, but I also like the look of body panels--even though aerodynamics on a motorcycle frame are almost futile, since the rider is the biggest aerodynamic drag problem!

Meaning... position the shock(s) further back? I was thinking of running shocks on either side of the saddle, down to the drop outs.

Here's the latest on my bike... err, moped? Motorcycle? I need to finish the 12v electrical wiring for the lights, then build the aluminum tank and battery cover fairing... and custom disc for the rear wheel... And custom brake mount... And then I'm left with a 50+ mph vehicle I can't legally ride... Hmm.

Very cool, but what are the pedals for, why not eliminate them? I assume you are going "throttle only"? Because if you keep pedal assist what would you do about the chainline? With that hub width you might need a fatbike BB in order to have a straight chainline.
And with "throttle only" you can skip the chain and instead of pedals have pegs or floorboards :) This would be a sick ride.
I'd do that if throttle was not outlawed here in Germany. :( I mean I don't mind pedaling, but it is limiting when it comes to design decisions.

Edit: Oh, you want to have a cassette in the rear? I get it now. Still, wouldn't be tricky with the chainline?

This is kinda how i want to do my battery encloser except I don't want it to cover the down tube, I might weld little tabs to mount the encloser too so it will look like it's floating in the frame sort of. I'll figure it out, I'm actually excited on working on that portion really considering aluminium or thin sheet metal so I can just have it all powder coated white afterwards just like my rims and hub motor will be, my forks are already white everything else is all black. I should probably start that thread, where would be a good place to post my rookie build?

Where can i purchase the thick dropout or torque arm you have on that white frame with the leather bag? I am most likely going to need one for my build as I will be using re-gen.

Thanks.

not a drama. it can be done by hand very easy. I've spread them to 180mm without an issue.

Lay the frame on it's side on the ground. Stand on the swingarm side on the ground - near to the main frame. Pull the other side of the swingarm at the dropout end till it shifts a little., Flip it over and do the other side. Check the measurement and go again if needed. A little wider than required is fine and makes it easy to install motor. if it's not 100% equal it doesn't matter... just got to get the wheel aligned when it's in place. And they can be pushed back if needed. The steel is very forgiving.

a really fat tyre may interfere with the chain-line. I've run a 3inch motorcycle tyre on the rear without issue.

Get the bottom bracket adapter (sold by Ruff or Classic Cycles), which just pushes into the bottom bracket tube and allows you to run a modern cassette and a standard MTB crank

Bottom bracket adapter? Is that to switch from American BMX to BSA bottom bracket adapter? Are the mountain bike cranks wider than the BMX cranks or something? hopefully, they have 140mm crank arms in the standard MTB crank as the pedals will scrape the ground in turns. I'm not much of a bicycle bike had to look up what MTB meant, I've never had an interest in them until gas prices started rising out of control here in Northern California, Ended up buying 2 Nissan Leafs for the family a street-legal golf cart, we have been running solar power for 6 years now which is the best thing ever.

Thanks

Robert

Both custom built.

I can send you a CAD file for laser or water-jet cutting for the torque arms.

I can make you a leather bag for $200... or you can learn a new skill and buy some leather and make your own. Heaps of Youtube tutorials. Make the templates out of paper first, then cut the cutting templates from 3mm acrylic.... such as the below pic. Leather can also be laser cut.

The custom-built leather bag sounds tempting, as it will save me lots of time, let me figure out the battery size i need to run my system and order it then I will contact you. Sorry for the late reply I been on vacation getaway. Thanks for all this information, I did order the bottom bracket adapter and 150mm crank arms. I haven't ordered the bottom bracket cartridge yet as I may need a wide spindle to clear the battery?

Can you make leather bags in different colours like white or black or are they brown? This electric bike shop in Russia https://megavel.ru/category/aksessuary/sumki-kofry/ makes nice leather bags for Megavel bikes which I assume are Micargi bicycle clones or Vice Versa? Have you heard of them before? They make some nice looking E-bikes. I wonder how this guy managed to make his bottom bracket wider with spacers on the side of the shell to clear the battery box? https://www.electricbike.com/richards-tango-qs/ looks like he added some aluminium rings and I assume a longer spindle?

Will the leather bag you make have a lid on it? BTW thanks for the offer.

Wow, Willow, that looks like a real motorcycle with all that nice leather, Is that the leather bags you build? They look fantastic, seems you're very skilled at pretty much anything you do. I don't know how I missed that picture I didn't see it before. My Chrome browser doesn't show lots of pictures especially Photobucket and others. I've tried hotlink fixes but they only work for a while. Anyway, that board tracker looking bike you built is sweet!

Why is it I always get an error message like a little triangle on the right-hand side when I try to upload pictures? I'm trying to post pictures of my build showing how I would like to place my battery and controller with templets I cut out of poster board.

Willow, I'm very interested in a leather bag but I have some questions. Hope I'm not too much of a bother to you. Thanks, bud.
