Would like to start this Topic to create a list of Electric Cars for sale.
To be on this list, cars should meet the following requirements:

2. Have at least one car in stock for test drive.
3. Have 3 or 4 wheels.
4. Enclosed with windows and heat.
5. Be powered by electricity. No gas.
6. Travel 60 MPH or faster. 60 miles per hour is equal to 97 kilometers (km) per hour.
7. Cars can be built anywhere, but must be able to be registered and driven in USA
8. Gasoline conversions are ok as long as they are new. No old rusty cars please.
9. Must have web site with pictures.

Sorry, I couldn't help it, but Zap consistently exagerates performance claims. Good luck if it breaks down too.

It might make a good platform for modification after people realized they were ripped off and dump them at discount prices.

I see. So the weight is the total for all four

That makes for one adult and three children (under age 5). Good luck if one of your toddlers is on the chunky side of the growth charts.

The ZAP car does not belong on this list. For one thing, a 40-mph car is too slow per the original post's rules, but reportedly the car's actual top speed is more like 34 mph and the range in real-world driving is less than 20 miles.

Big deal. The list is so damn short anyway, we might as well look at what's available.

I would not include NEV's, but if the EV is full street-legal, it's an option for anybody.

Here's one:
http://www.acpropulsion.com/ebox/

Scion xB 5-speed, new or low mileage, supplied by customer $13,000 to $18,000 including options, taxes, and fees.
Conversion to electric: $55,000 plus tax, includes all parts and labor, per specification sheet

Range 120 – 150 miles
Acceleration 0-60 mph in 7 secs
Top Speed 95 mph
Battery Li Ion
Voltage 355V nominal
Capacity 35 kWh

55K for a xB? ugh...Lately i've been contemplating a 120k miles porshe 966. It would make a great scrap car for conversion.

The specs are very good for this Scion xB 5-speed. Something like this would really fit a lot of profiles for those that simply want to avoid going to a gas station. I was surprised to see the voltage! If this thing was 35000, I would want one. Sadly, I can't justify 70k either. The trick is to get this sort of speed and range and yet be competitive with a conventional car.

I have been toying with the idea of making an EV and it looks like even for lead you are going to spend $10,000, plus a donor car or truck and quite a bit of time. Still.....

The Karma’s performance specs rev out at 0-60 mph in 6 seconds, and a top speed of 125 mph. At $80,000 USD, The car is a plug-in hybrid based on technology of Quantum Technologies. The Q DRIVE consists of a small gasoline engine which in turn charges the lithium battery packs in the car. According to Fisker, if charged properly, the hybrid would need to use no more than a fuel tank per year, quite a claim!

Now before you think that the Fisker is just a concept vehicle, Wired managed to get some pics of the Fisker Karma in action. Here’s hoping that soon we can have two really cool sports cars that show that being green can be done at maximum speed.

Look at Kelley Blue Book http://www.kbb.com See 45 gas power cars for less then $15,000 I think a Electric Car can be manufactured and sold for around the same price?

I think we have number nine covered! Go ahead and scratch that one off. :D I'm with you though, we need something good we can buy NOW. I'm looking for the exact same thing. We'll get it too! I would like to see 75 MPH top end and a 80 mile range though. 120 miles would be even better of course.

If gas prices stay high or get even higher, I think this list will be very long within a few years, and we may even have some decent electric cars that are affordable.. Right now, the pickings are lean. Plug in hybrids may be next, and full electric after that.

More news and facts about electric Doblò and other cars
