Well, here's something ya don't see EVeryday... This "faithful reproduction" of the 1965-1966 Peel Trident:

... on Page 7 of current Hammacher Schlemmer Fall Supplement 2014. Now can be yours today for... $25,000 American Dineros! This model updated with an electric "moped" motor... (equal to being pulled by three horses, I guess) that provides a 28mph max. top speed! (Two riders weighing a total of 300lbs, which may rule out many from North America.) Three wheels with back one powered. Stinko-mobile (gas-powered) version also available!

Folks on ES will want to line up to buy this honey!

Looks like a 1.5KW worm-and-wheel gearmotor:

The conversion from KW to HP seems to have used Salesman's arithmetic...

That is adorable, but if you're paying something like $10 per watt at the wheel (and that's a generous accounting assuming 2.5kW output) for a vehicle weighing over 100lbs per kW then either there are other major benefits (safety, comfort, platform versatility, Wh/mi, etc.) or you're wasting your money or both (there are some benefits along those lines, but not enough to account for how hard you're getting gouged).

Noted in Feb, 2013: "In Pictures: 12 microcars sell for more than $100,000 each
(RM Auctions' sale of the Bruce Weiner Microcar Museum contents generated more than $9.1-million)"

Includes "1966 Peel Trident - $103,500. This two-seater three-wheeled car was Peel's second production model. It is thought that fewer than 100 were made. This is one of the last six, which were all fitted with 98-cc motors and automatic belt transmissions out of the Triumph Tina scooter."

Pics shown of the other "cars" sold sorta amusing too.

Hmmm... So lessee... An original for about $100,000, or replica for $25,000... hmmmm...

Apparently, this thread may have been "spammed"?

Here is one of the earlier 50cc Peels and some info from Gizmag.
“Powered by a 49 cc engine coupled to a three-speed manual transmission, the car has a top speed of around 38 mph (61 km/h) and no reverse gear.”
