Yep, lead is cheap. That's why I still use it.

In a speed run like that, the extra weight is not that much of a disadvantage since you have plenty of time to accelerate. And it's flat...

The extra weight is an advantage, maybe, in the sense that you do anything you can do to keep the thing going in a straight line with all of its wheels on the ground....

This is proof that with good aerodynamics you can produce some serious speed. I wonder how much power they are developing? I would guess that they are up into the 12 hp range because that's how the Etek is rated at that voltage if you can pull the amps. The Etek is capable of up to 300 amps.

The Human Powered record is 80 mph, so they should be able to eventually get up to 120 mph if they keep improving things.
