Max. speed 45km/h from a "4KW" motor.

New Zealand Post's electric postal buggies crash 30 times in a year:
http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=11837915

"causing damage to public property and injuring postal workers"...

(Only) "Two of the incidents involved collisions with moving vehicles and were attended by police."

"...Items such as letterboxes, concrete posts and vehicles were damaged. We do not discuss details of insurance matters," an NZ Post spokeswoman said.

"NZ Post said no injuries had caused staff to take time off work..." [Insert more eyes rolling here]

"no members of the public had been hurt"... [more eyes rolling]

""Many of the crashes have been incidents like backing into objects or brushing against poles,"" [Perhaps stop hiring those blind drivers?]

... and ends:
The data released by NZ Post also shows a reduction in crashes attributed to bicycles since the national Paxster roll-out, with 309 crashes in 2015 dropping to 254 last year.

[Not sure how to read] Cyclists learned to avoid crashing into these "trucks"/wattEVer...

Meanwhile, in unrelated news:
Motor Vehicle Crashes in New Zealand 2015

During the 2015 calendar year there were:
291 fatal road crashes
9,446 injury crashes
319 deaths
12,270 people injured

But those postal thingees sure are troublesome. [Yup]

Huh... Sorry?

I don't know how they were able to register these for road use. Government strings must have been pulled otherwise we would all be importing small E-cars.
Normally small electric vehicles could only be 3-wheelers so they could be licensed as a motorcycle.

Ahoy NZ! (From one of the other colonies... Canada, eh?) Anything labeled "Eco-Friendly" is a big selling feature `round here? Same for NZ perhaps? Gov. trying to "do the right thing" maybe?

(Wiki:)
Comparing the two main islands, nearly all South Island's electricity is generated by hydroelectricity – 98% in 2014. The North Island has a wider spread of generation sources with geothermal, unnatural gas and hydroelectricity all generating a share of between 20-30% each in 2014.

`Round here, (province of Ontario) we still call our electricity "hydro" (see "Niagara Falls"), `though most of the time our "electric" vehicles are more than 50% NUCLEAR. [Sigh]

(Geothermal ROCKS BTW...) 8)
