I got a Mastercraft drill, 2 prong cord - 7A 120V 60Hz "Low Gear Drill" spins at 650rpm, it did not work so I decided to open eeerrrrrrrrr up and see if I can use it for an ebike application temporarily until my Hallomotor/Conhismotor 1500W dd w/sine cont comes.

One brush was broken. The head of the unit has 2 metal gears in it, which is the heaviest part of the drill.

Found a link...... http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/mastercraft-5-8-in-7a-low-gear-mud-mixer-0541343p.html
Hoping I can buy some brushes for it. I will snap some pictures.

Here they are. So looking at the diagram for the switch, there is something going on there, it almost looks like a diode.

Anywho, found this video

speed control on the trigger means a TRIAC, and yes it can run on 120Vdc perhaps more pixies.

Got eeerrrrrrrrrrrrrr going, brush(es) were frocked.

Not sure how the brush(s) got broken, was thinking I broke it trying to get the thing out and the switch was frocked. Thinking about it now, the brushes are at the back of the drill and I tended to drop it there when tired working on the deck. I will hook up 120Vac RMS (x0.707 = 85Vdc) gotta see if it runs the same, only by sound I dont have nothing to measure rpm.

I got a few options, I have a 3 speed hub from the 1970's Sturmey Archer AWS, I have a single gear freewheel and various freewheel cassettes I could cut up to get a certain gear. The thing with the Sturmey Archer is I dont have the shifter, so I will epoxy the single gear freewheel onto the chuck.
