How do I fit a 15" hub motor into a 16" wheel?

Title says it all. I bought a 700c close-out bike kit for a friend that changed her mind and gave it to me.

I would like to install this hub motor into a kick bike with 16" wheels.

I'm worried that having only 1" to spoke may angle the nipples too much for durability.

I've looked around on the internet (and here) for examples, but it seems like no one has attempted anything similar.

I even looked for examples of people making solid wheels, but no joy.

Help?

Radial lacing is your only option at that kind of spoke length.

As long as you use thin enough spokes so they can still be preloaded (tensioned) correctly, it'll probably still work fine.

I can't find them with the search, but similar lacings have been done here on ES before.

Thanks Amberwolf, knowing that those examples were radial may help find them.

Funny how short spokes actually need to be THINNER in order to be tensioned properly.

I'll let you know what I find.
