Looking for a high voltage controller..most are 72V and 96V
Was looking at the yuyang king 120v but seems to be sold out on a few sites.
Dont see too many around that can handle over 30s.
Let me know what you got..thanks!

There are a few. What spec and price range do you want? If it’s <1000usd then apt96600 is speced to take 30S but i’ve read it derates max current to 150A at higher voltages.

Hi there!! Yes i seen this one.
Oh where did you see that it derates max. current? That wouldnt be so great.
Are there any other controllers to check out?
Yes..under 1000 is my spending area.
Thanks!

Read it on ES facebook. Guy seemed to know what he was speaking about.
If you’re below 1000usd then i don’t know many other options. The powervelocity VESC clone here on ES seems like it won’t ever be ready.

Google ”120V brushless controller” and you get a ton of chinese controllers if you’re willing to gamble. Couldn’t find any that were power >10kW

Hi again...would you happen to know his name on ES facebook? Thx

It was months ago, maybe even last year. I won’t be able to find it.

120Vx150A isn’t too shabby really even though it’s derated from original 250A

Hi..ok ill look more.
250A?? Isnt it rated for 600A?

600A is phase current. I can’t set more than 250A battery current on my controller but i think this is a block in the firmware in QS delivered 96600, that’s not the true limit. i’ve seen them advertised on alibaba with 420A peak/200A continuous dc current.

Thx for the chart!
What does, for example, Pressure 80V mean beside the voltage rating?

larsb said:
Pressure is chinglish for voltage. I guess google translate translates their word like this.

In this chart i guess it means max absolute useable voltage. 127/4.2 would be full charged 30S lipo battery.

i see..why would the controller be listed as 100V controller but also 127V? i assume youre correct at 30S, but they using advertise a lesser voltage

It’s likely because 100V is a nominal and preferred voltage, 127V an absolute max and if your controller breaks at this voltage then it could be due to a voltage peak that is outside of the component rating, so not necessarily a true controller fault.

The closer the voltage is to the absolute max, less headroom available for any voltage peaks that occur.

That makes sense
I assume the capacitors would be 130V then

Let me know how you get on as I was just about to ask the same question. info I have to date:

  • PowerVelocity: 150V 150A battery/300A Phase - were my first choice but were unable to sell me a 15 Kw unit to the UK. Very frustrating to deal with though polite and apparently trying to help, Maybe just busy, mixed feedback on build quality https://www.endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=111580
  • The Kelly https://www.kellycontrollers.eu/kdz12401 KDZ12401 is 18 to 136V, 160 A continuous and up to 400A in short bursts
  • I'm still looking into Sevcon / BorgWarner who make a 120V nominal150V max 300A peak 120A cont Gen4 Size 4 which looks possible. They are a large OEM supplier so I'd expect quality and the 150V would give me confidence at 30S
  • The APT96600 is 5.9 Kg which is a bit on the big and heavy side for me but looks better for price but lower voltage (more important) and higher current output (less important for me)
  • Lyen Controllers might be an option http://lyen.com though it points back to an ES page which hasn't been updated in a while https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=19719 need to see what's changed in a couple of years as i haven't seen much on them recently
  • AliExpress had the YKZ120150 60-120V 150/450A still available at https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002095335029.html manual, support etc looks , um, less refined (more typical ali express shall we say)
  • 120V 100A no name but with bluetooth - no idea just how bad it is https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001051472078.html
  • I found a build it yourself 150V thread https://vesc-project.com/node/655?page=1#comment-7513
  • Nucular have plans to bring out a 150/160V version which should be great, but they only plan to start development at the end of this year. If available this would have been my first choice
There are various apparently non programmable or undocumented progammability 120V controllers on Alibaba which I've ignored eg:
  • 120V 250A - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32607714367.html
  • https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001794736645.html

Hope some of it helps - any feedback from anyone would be good

The Sevcon looks good though more expensive, there are some write ups here and the setup looks complicated
£545 ($770) plus £270 ($380) for a CAN bus dongle that they say is essential
Software and licence is free

Manuals attached
Gen4 Size 2 4 6 Datasheet.pdfDVT Customer Manual-1.pdfIXXAT User Manual.pdf

Ill keep you updated
Do you have a link to the Sevcon?

I'm in the UK and contacted info@voltsport.co.uk https://voltsport.co.uk/ who are a distributor
I originally contacted drives.sales@borgwarner.com who said "BorgWarner are a major OEM focussed business – we do not support individual applications directly." but put me in touch with Voltsport who responded quickly
They have also just sent me a revised quote (they quoted for the 80V by mistake) but also suggested another Sevcon product the Dragon 8 which I'm just starting reading up on. Looks like 96V nominal 140 max working 145V absolute max (non working) and it's £550 rather than the gen 4 Size 4 96-120V which is £685 + £10 delivery and taxes
View attachment Dragon 8 Product Manual v1.pdf

There's some good info here which seems to start with "this is impossible" and change to "this is how you do it" https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=36146#p523984

Received a reply from Edward Lyen who has his controller (abs max 150V) available but he advised "the power rating for 24 FET 4115 controller is around 7000 watts"
Price he gave was $399,
