Hey all,

I have a nearly new GMAC 8T Motor laced into a 20inch wheel for sale. Since 20inch is not likely a size folks would need, i can unlace the motor and ship if needed. Of course it comes with the integrated torque arm and all the fixins. Was used for about a month doing a semi-regular school run. (was on an edgerunner cargo bike).

Essentially I thought GMAC would be for me, but i didn't like the noise generated and so moved to an All-Axel motor instead.

Paid CAD$605.30, hoping to get CAD$500

Stephen

Now that looks like a great deal to me, without even reading the 605 it cost new, in loonies of course. Whats that in usd, like 460ish.
Be great for any Canadian eh, who want a great little motor, not a power house by any means, but its got the torque if setup right.
Perhaps a different controller would make it more silent, definitely a sine-wave controller would do that :thumb: or some Ferro Fluid (F.F) (Meant for cooling, but you never know about the mojo), then I'd have to look at the grease situation if the noise persisted, maybe some of that Mobile28 stuff if I got the number right, search high and low for that stuff, expensive aircraft dino-fuel.

In general geared hub motors do have a slight hum due to the internal gears (sun, planetary, outer ring gears etc.) meshing and making a sound. Usually that sound is drowned out by the road noise of the tires, but it depends on how wide the tread is, like big mudders or slicks and speed and what-not. Its been windy here, my direct drive hums a song all the time, dont bother me one bit, I consider it a bell of sorts, dog owners unite.

How wide is the 20" rims internal width, make and model of the rim, you know what brand spokes or gauge were used?
Pictures help

BTW, its cheaper to ship a motor unlaced then it is to ship a hub motor that has been laced to a rim. Larger packages cost more money, a little bit more weight adds more money to the shipping cost. They getcha either way

Ya, i know it's not THAT loud it just annoyed me; i know others would not be bothered. I guess I just prefer direct drive. That being said, I do miss the off-line torque of the GMAC. I am using a baserunner controller from GRIN for a controller. In fact, the entire wheel was built by Grin. They laced it and everything so you don't have to trust my workmanship :)

In terms of Rim and spokes if anyone is interested.

I was about to buy a MXUS XF-19R, but noticed your ad.

How much are you looking for on just the motor without rim & spokes?

Thanks!

I PMed him last month. Mid conversation about the sale, the seller hasn't come back. This was perfect, as it was the highspeed motor laced in the same rim I was planning on using.

I waited a couple weeks for a response, then gave up and went to china looking for a motor. ... The mxus XF-19 is actually the one im trying to get from overseas. Of course, I have to buy the DM30 rim and spokes and lace it.

Definitely delayed the ebike project by about a month.

I'm interested in talking to you about this motor and the controller as I would like to have it put in a 26-in wheel.
