I have 3 Chevy volt 47ah modules in series for close to 150V and 3 8A chargers ... how many days to do the return trip if I Amtrak to Hammond with the batteries ? Close to 900 miles return .
Thank you
One of the new things people began to find out in the last century was that thoughts--just mere thoughts--are as powerful as electric batteries--as good for one as sunlight is, or as bad for one as poison. To let a sad thought or a bad one get into your mind is as dangerous as letting a scarlet fever germ get into your body. If you let it stay there after it has got in you may never get over it as long as you live.

"I have 3 Chevy volt 47ah modules in series for close to 150V"
That would not work for anything bigger than a golf cart. 47 ah X 150 V is only 7 kWh. I had a 9 kWh pack and that wasn't really enough to go highway speeds.

But, if you insist on a figure, then your 7 kWh pack would roughly give you 20 mi of range in this vehicle. Your chargers would take about 15 h to recharge, so basically you could go 20 mi every 16 h or 900 mi every 30 days. Not what I would consider a good use of time.

[Edit: I have left the following comments up for the record. This is me shooting my mouth off instead of reading back up the thread to figure out what's going on. Whoops.]

That sounds like the attitude of someone who wastes far too much of his time in a car. If you take command of your life rather than letting circumstances take command of you, you don't have to drive much at all.

I haven't ventured as much as 10 miles from my home ever on my current e-bike, and I don't own a car. The resources I would otherwise squander on a car, I use instead to live in a centrally located neighborhood where I don't have to go very far for anything, and where I don't have to waste my time just getting around.

For going farther, I can use transit, ridesharing, taxi, or carpooling with friends. I find that I very rarely call upon any of these options.

er... circumstances like driving this car back to WYE's home - 900 miles away - which was the question he was answering? 30 days to pickup a 250$ car, is not productive use of your time.
Put simply - im not sure your vitriolic response was justified, or useful.

to WYE - why not get it delivered on a truck/train? or even tow it, wouldn't be too hard to get hold of a car trailer, stick it on, do the trip in a few days rather than driving the car itself? certainly better than 30 days hah.

Whoa, that's insane. It would be better performance art to push the car 900 miles home. I should have read back further.

My assumption was that he was pooh-poohing a usage pattern of driving 20 miles per day at home, then charging for up to 15 hours. But that's because I didn't read enough context.

Shipping that car should cost about $500 for 900 miles.

Fair enough, I was a bit rude and should have been more helpful.

Thanks, I should have wrote that myself. This is a good idea because the car really is worth $1000+. It's so cheap because it is pretty much impossible to sell to someone in Louisiana -especially without air conditioning. Just the AmpZilla 1kLV with hairball and radiator is worth $1000 if someone has the patience to part it out.

Was directed at chalo mate :P - for having a go at you for explaining the impracticality of driving 900miles in a car that can do about 20 mi a day
too many misunderstandings in this thread lol.

$500 shipping for 900 miles is the best option
because if you were to rent a truck, and a trailer, say Hertz Suburban for one way rental wouldnt be the local rate of $80/day, Im not sure how they'd come up with a price like that. Plus one way Uhaul trailer $25/day. Could go Uhaul, say their trucks are what, like $30/day plus 35 cents per mile, plus the one way premium.
