Voloci E-Bike Liquidation

Post by braytonenergy » Mar 28 2018 7:42am

After the passing of Nathan Ulrich, his estate is looking to liquidate his old stock of Volcoi bikes, along with all the chargers, boxes of unused stators and rotors, rims, tires, brakes ...etc ...

I am not on this board very often, so email me if you have any interest. billyvandervalkatgmaildotcom

Here are a couple photos.

Please tell us where these are located and what the asking price is.

For those that don't know, the Voloci was one of the earliest ebikes that was mass produced. No pedals, 36v lead-acid battery.
The one that I worked on years ago just might be one of the units for sale. With a lithium battery and an external controller, this would be a pretty decent ride. Very well constructed CNC aluminum frame and moped rims.

Where are you located and are you willing to ship the bikes or other components?

How much per bike? Each one looks different

Is it a lot buy only?

The bikes are located in Lee,NH at the inventors house. Sadly Nate Ulrich passed away last year in a plane crash. A friend of mine is dealing with the estate. He reached out to me knowing that I like bikes, and I am an EE.

I really have no idea what these things are worth. All the battery's are junk, but the bikes themselves seem to be in good shape.

You guys tell me what they are worth? As far as selling them one at time, and shipping ... you know how that goes, its a pain ... but I guess if the price is right anything can happen.

I look forward to your thoughts.

Billy

This is fairly close to where I live, I am talking to him about a lot buy depending on price and what they have for extras...I have a warehouse and a box truck and could ship single bikes to others who may desire to do so.

Ya my first Voloci actually came with the 48v NIMH batteries (the upgraded over the SLA) I had two of them with an original charger...they didn't work at all though. Looking back I really wish I kept this bike in its OEM glory.

Maybe I will get a second chance.

Are these the source of the dual bolt flange rear hubs that were sold in bulk a while back on the forum? There might be interest in those hubs if there is a bunch of wheels sitting around there.

I would think those hubs would be popular again with the LR swing arm drive and other LH drive activity around here lately.

If you do go over to check out this stuff see if there are a bunch of wheels/hubs with the lot

Yup. I remember the Voloci bikes were originally marketed under the Nova Cruz name which was Xootr's original manufacturer, I believe. I used to love the Xootr EX3 electric scooter. I never had one but wanted one badly!

I had a Voloci back in the day. Decent speed, but the range was pretty bad with the NiMH battery. It was no fun to have the motor shut down right in the middle of a turn on a busy street. Should be better if you can rip the battery pack apart and rebuild it with lithium cells and the necessary electronics.

I have one modded for 48v I want to up it to 52v and run a larger rear sprocket, will be interesting to see the torque capabilities.
