Tesla Cells for sale as wrapped or welded packs

Post by eric1565 » Apr 17 2018 7:52pm

Hello,

I am selling Tesla cells either wrapped or in welded packs. I have a JP spot welder, and I have made MANY packs for people. I know how to remove the cells with out damaging them. I do not use any hammers or anything removing the cells. They will be 100% perfect when you get them. All cells will have paper washers on the positive terminal and will be shrink wrapped

I can make packs any shape you want. I use custom made hex style holders. These holders give about a 5%-8% increase in density vs the square Chinese holders. I can do any size and shape. I am not going to put on the main lead wires, or balance leads. I will lay down a good amount of nickel to protect the cells from the heat of soldering. If you want that done it will cost more per cell and it will be on an individual case.

i have made packs for my self, and you can see some of that on my youtube channel under eric.ensley I currently have a 2X 7S7P approx 59V with a speed controller set to 150 amps. That is about 20 amps per cell.

I do not sell/ship unwrapped cells due to cells shorting, it is dangerous, so please don't ask.

Prices are below.

If you are interested in cells please PM me. I accept paypay or cash if you are in the houston Tx area.

I forgot to put in some of the packs I have made in the past for people.

This one was for an E-bike. It was a BIG pack... 80V+ 10P I think

In process. I really like the wide nickle strips. It really speads up the assembly/weld time.
20160610_215042_small.jpg
Custom ebike frame. The customer and us cadded it all up and the model said it would work... I was a bit scared the first time I put it together because I was afraid it would not fit, but it fit like a glove! This was set up in 2 separate packs for the guy, each 40V+ 14P

Example of a Gen 1 pack. I don't make these anymore.

Another example of a Gen 1 pack using Chinese holders. Chinese holders suck because you can only use 8mm nickle and you have to lay a TON of nickle to get the amps up. I always mark on the packs to mark where the cell groups are. It helps when you are building and laying down the nickle.

This is an example of us working with the customer to find out how they wanted the wires run, and where he wanted the Pos and Neg to be. We can do anything, just take communication

So what kind of sag do you get a 20 amps. I thought those maxed at 10 amps? What cell is this exactly since I’ve never been able to figure that out? Panasonic what?

There are a ton of power graphs on Tesla motors club. But from memory they go from about 4.1v to about 3v at about 20 amps per cell.

We believe the cells are 18650BE or a chemistry very close to that. Okashira has done significant testing on tesla cells. You can search his posts from 2015 time to see what he thinks. He believes the 3.1ah is better at dumping power vs the 3.4ah cells.

Looks pretty close to what I said above. about a 1V drop at 20 amp pull.

Hey. Can you build a 52v 30ah triangle battery that would fit the frame of a motobecane hardtail mtb?

I can build anything you want. If u have cad u can cad up what u want. Cells are a hex layout. I need to get u all the ctr to ctr distance but from memory the hex wall is .05" so u can add .05" to the 18mm dia So about .76" dia then just pile them in how u want. If u don't have cad then a picture with dims is enough for me to design up a pack.

Thank you

Can you give an accurate outside diameter using calipers of the wrapped cells? I want to make sure they will fit my holders.

With wrapper 18.35-18.37mm
Without wrapper 18.20-18.22mm

Measured with precision Chinese calipers (tongue in cheek)

Also on the hex holders the cast urathane ones are 1.2mm thick walls and the 3d printed ones are .8mm thick.

I will buy a module (Or 2), from which cells do you have them from?

I think the hex shape of end-cap has the opportunity for better air-flow. More compact of you don't need air-flow, and better air-flow if you spread them out.

I am not going to ship to Canada. US only. Sorry, shipping to Canada is a PITA.

also I don't have any good BMS boards. There are a few people have used on ES, but I have no experience with them. I don't want u to be a guinea pig.

Would you consider shipping to a US border address such as MyUS.com. Those of us canucks lucky enough to live near the border could register with myus.com and drive across to collect the package (and declare at border).

Hi Eric

I have a stealth fighter that I need a battery pack for. The opening is 120mm x 380 mm. I would like to have a 14s9p battery.

I came up with this drawing. Do you have enough cells to build it?(126) Can you do it? could you tell me how big it would be before you build it? I am most interested in the width (across the 6 1/2 cells) as that is where it would be tight.

I made a small mistake tracing out the cells on the right side of the drawing. Disregard that, im sure you know what I want.

thanks

Peter

Yes that is not a problem. I do like how you have 3 cells touching where the cells jump from + to -, or vise versa. This will give you a good amt of nickel to push the amps thru.

So what amp range are you looking for? I need to know this so that I make sure there is enough nickel to take the amps.

about amp draw, I really dont know. Im not a kid so im not looking for crazy performance, but it would be nice to be able to use the bike to its full potential. If you did the nickel strips like this, that would give 3 strips going between each group of cells. What do you think of that? How about using wider nickel bands that I see in some of the other packs you have built? If the bike has a 3000 watt motor and the battery is ~50v, 3000/50=60 amps So how about 60 amps?

Just so we are on the same page, I drew how I would like the current to flow through the battery. As you can see, the current flows across the top from left to right, then drops down to the bottom an goes right to left. This way the positive and the negative end up beside each other so there is no need for a wire to run the length of the battery

Let me know what you think. How long to build, do you have 126 cells, and what mah are they?

Thanks

Here is a pack I'm making for heynow. It is for a stealth fighter. He wanted a simple design.

I am currently going thru and checking all the P's to make sure their capacity's are good.

I welded on extra little bis of nickel so I could hook up my alligator clips to each cell individually.

I am in the process of making a pack for a guy. I am 3D printing the cell holders. The filiment is nylon 6/6. I'm printing on a home built core XY printer.

Here are some pics of the prints. I need to work on the retractions because the nylon is a bit stringy. But it is STRONG.

These cell holders are a BIT tighter than the molded urathane. The Nylon has much better heat performance. The urathane has the heat characteristices of PLA, get it a bit hot and it just sags.

IMG_20180702_064258908.jpg

So if the pack is bigger than about 10x10, I cut it up into smaller sections and then just over lap a cell.

So here is an example of a triangle pack I am working on, and I had to cut it up into 3 different prints (6 actually since i need them on both sides of the cell). Each print takes about 4 hrs to finish.

Nice holders.
What is the thin, transparent base, underneath your print?

Eric,

Same question, with USA shipping. I would need to get a 48 Vdc (with 30~40 Ah) battery pack. Your printed cell holders look fine to me, but I would have to know the number of cells that I would need for my pack(s). I could CAD something up if you want, if I had the dimensions of your cell holders, maybe across five cells.

Hopefully I can figure out a decent BMS and charger set-up. I have some electronics experience, but not much experience with batteries.

Total noob to ebikes here, so please bear with me.

Thanks,
Cheers,
X2flier
