hello everybody.
I am reading this forum a while now and I think I´m ready to start my Fatbike build.
It will be a carbon fatbike with carbon wheels.
the motor will be the new Bafang 1000W middrive BBSHD.

I have some questions now, where I didn´t find an answer in other threads...
is it possible to use carbon rims on a 1000W ebike?
do I need stronger spokes as normal?

plan A.
the manufacturer can STRENGTHEN the rims with extra layers of carbon.
(not sure why he´s doing that, maybe he plans to build ebikes-rims in the future)

plan B.
I could get trispoke carbon wheels also, they seem stronger but.....
1.price is double than normal wheel.
2. no IHG (internal gear hub) possible for those rims.
3. I´m not convinced by their look so far...

cheers!

Are you sure the BBSHD will even fit in a Carbon BB shell? I know that the BB shells on normal carbon bikes are too thick for the BBS02 to fit. I suspect there will be a similar issue here.

do you mean the width of the BB?
it will be 120mm wide.

edit:
width=inner diameter?
I don't know that measurement. I thought all crancsets will fit.

It looks like the material around the BB is too thick for the drive: the wall thickness is too great for the space allowed by the drive. Also it looks like the position of the down tube will force the drive to hang below the BB and not in front.

I mean the thickness of the carbon around the BB Shell. In your picture it is the black carbon around the metal ring. I dont remember the details, I just remember reading that some people on here couldnt get a BBS02 on any carbon frame bike. Not sure if the HD is any different.

that is NOT good.... thanks for the advise!
hmm. its too expensive to "just try". maybe I need plan B for the motor also...
maybe build a "DUAL drive Tesla bike" with 2x hubmotor

but for the RIMS...
has anyone concerns about the strength of carbon rims?

cheers
