Hello

Does anyone know how can I use a battery with higher volts than 48v? I mean, I heard some people using 52v or 57v + on their 8fun bafang 750/1000w. How is it possible? Can anyone explain me please?

Thanks!!

The capacitors are rated at about 63v and they have a high voltage cut off (safety) at 60v.

This means the max you can run

14S lipo - also known as 52V - hot off the charger voltage is 58.8v ( 14 x 4.2v )
13S lipo - Also known as 48v - hot off the charger voltage is 54.6v ( 13 x 4.2v )

Battery voltage drops as it is being used. Fully charged (hot off the charger) may be 58.8v, but after you use 50%-60% of the battery, the voltage may drop down to 50.4v ( 14 x 3.6v ). This is why controllers have a working voltage range to cater for the battery voltage differences between fully charged and near dead.

Just to augment Raged's comment, I've been using a 52V battery (Luna 52V, 10 ah, 26f cells) with my BBS02, and they seem matched perfectly.

Great with a BBSHD too.

Know that if you order 52V BBS02 the LVC (low voltage cutoff) will likely be programmed too high to use 48V battery pack at a later time.

Of course, you may reprogram if you have proper hardware/software but as 52V version ships, it’s only meant for 14S (52-58V operating range) Lipoly, Li-ion and not much else.

Hello, so I would need to reprogram the 52v battery to make it work right?

Hi
So.. can I use 52v battery without need of using any additional thing? Just plug and ride?

Thanks

So no need to configure or anything eh? Great!

Thanks!

It's not the optimum solution but it's fine. I run both. 48 and 52V. I don't get all the excitement with 52V. Eventually Bafang will have a 52V version.
Now that the largest supplier of Bafang mid drives is a USA vendor, expect more changes, perhaps even a bit faster. And the support gets better and better.

Check this out!

I wrote Eric last November and posted here that he promised to bring in parts...well....

Yes. I run 52v (14S lipo) on a 48v BBS02 750.
