List of available commercial mini E-Scooters/E-Skateboards

Yeah >300wh is a tough one.. But anything <300Wh is standard for UPS ground. From what I heard, China ships out from all carriers with packs higher than usual they usually mislabel and/or just send it through and pray customs doesn't take it away. But I can only imagine there are a ton of packs and not enough man power to check.

They should just lift the ban and have people properly wrap/pack these batteries. Since people will send it out anyways but oh well.

Hi Torqueboards
From the specs it looks like a great product.
I hope you get it soon, I would love to see a review on this thing from yourself.
Sure there will always be delays on crowd-funding products, hell Iook at Marble boards or the Leif E-snowboard (that I personally am also waiting on).
Good luck, hope it exceeds the expectations.

Did you ever get your scoot, torqueboards, and how was the quality?

$498 total shipped to California. I'm still wondering how they are going to ship that pack. I would assume the logical reason would be send by boat first but I doubt they are doing that. Guess, we'll see. Although, it's common practice with as many battery packs shipping out of China that a big percentage of packs are well over >100-140wh.

I wouldn't pay $700-800 for this escoot but $498 is about the price, I would pay.

That's good it arrived but too bad you don't like/ride it

Their comment page on indiegogo seems full of complaints on the quality/hardware/frame etc and some hadn't received yet so I was curious as you seemed very gung ho for this product considering now you don't even ride it at all...

I wonder if it was better quality and had more power for hills, etc, even if it cost a few hundred more if you would get more use out of it

Haven't seen any e-skateboards (after quizzing numerous locals) I see riding various boards in SF, that can do any hills either, although of course they are lighter and have shorter ranges compared to ebikes etc, except for maybe the bajaboard which is the state of the art premier e-board imho but with a pricetag to match of over $5k to the US, that can actually do decent hills...

How did they end up shipping it, out of curiosity from previous post inquiries, was the battery installed and did it come all in a single box by ups/fedex etc?

Torqueboards, did you REALLY receive a VOMO scooter? I ask because we now know that the entire campaign was a total scam...just like I said over a year ago. If you got a scooter, then you're one of only about 10 people who did. 97% of people who backed that campaign received nothing. The scampaign owner (whose real name is Simon Bright) disappeared with close to $250,000.

And of those very few who did receive a scooter, a few have piped up to say it is basically junk. Motor problems, electric problems, brake problems, etc.

VOMO was a textbook scampaign. Anonymous owner, unrealistic price, extremely poor communication, red flags galore, etc. I feel bad for people who fell for it, because all the warning signs were obvious.

Don't buy any scooter that doesn't have a large size deck. It is annoying as hell riding with your feet behind each other like this one. It feels strange at first but it is best to have your feed side by side.

Meh...I'm 6'0 tall and 170 pounds, and currently ride an E-Twow (smaller deck than the Luna). I've never had any problems or discomfort whatsoever when riding a scooter with a small deck. In fact, I actually prefer the "one foot facing forward, one foot slightly slanted behind it" method of riding. I feel like in that riding position, I can react much quicker if for some reason I need to quickly jump off the scooter. I also feel like my entire body weight is just better balanced on the scooter when I ride in this position. For me, riding as you describe (feet side-by-sde) actually seems more unnatural and dangerous.

Different strokes for different folks.

The Luna apocalypse dual motor scooter has a huge bug where the voltage sag causes the BMS to trip at only half battery!

Actually it is more safer. The only way to safely ride fast, for me anyways, is when you notice something in the road that has bumps crouch all the way down and let your body absorb any bumps or dips in the road. Safely runs right over pot holes, bumps.... standing up holding on to a flimsy handle bar hitting a pot hole you could be thrown off the scooter. Think two wheels, a deck, then a stick with handle bars to hold on to, not really the most strongest thing to rely on. I have been in so many situations going fast that I would never even consider a small deck safe. In my opinion, I have been into goped's since 2002, people just don't like to ride with legs side by side, any new rider gets on a goped and immediately does the side by side stance. Companies these days trying to capitalize on electric scooter/bike popularity think that will pander to consumers. Take a look as some goped trick stuff back people used to do back in the day. You won't do any of that stuff with your legs side by side.

It's all a simple matter of physics.

Try this: Stand with your legs closely side by side, as you're suggesting for scooters. Now imagine there's a person in front of you that you want to punch. Without moving your legs, throw an imaginary punch at that person. Very hard to do, isn't it? That's because you have no leverage to create momentum. Your body is sorta "stuck" in terms of lateral movement; something I think is quite dangerous when riding a scooter.

Now put one foot facing forward, and the other foot slightly behind it angled at 45 degrees. Try that imaginary punch again, and now all of a sudden you have a lot more power. That's because your body isn't locked in a rigid position.

I'm of the opinion that any safe riding position on a scooter will contemplate your ability to move quickly in the lateral plane. Because if you need to ditch the scooter quickly, that's precisely the type of movement you'll need. And it's much harder to achieve with your feet side by side.

There's a reason nobody rides a surfboard or a skateboard with their feet side by side.
