Electric-skateboard.builders

Don't know if you're aware but this site has blown up and probably gets ten times the traffic as the skate section here at ES.

Isn't this sub forum about electric skateboards?
Does grin tech sell e-boards?

But wait we aren't done yet...

Does endless have a similar sub forum about electric bikes?

Does endless further have sub forums on batteries, electric hubs, and electronic control systems?

Could both parties potentially have a conflict of interest ?

it may be owned by Enertion, but jason doesn't even go on the forum any more.. infact, I doubt you'd guess Enertion is the owner if you didn't already know it.

There aren't any blatant ads or slanderous posts about his products or others, and as hummina said, there is a crazy amount of traffic there, with 20+ topics being posted in each day.

This site seemingly has no commercial interests while the builders site is defiantly used by enertion to promote. Jason may say he's gone, been 2 days I think, and maybe he will stay gone, but in the past he does a lot of hyping, but so does everyone selling anything there  That site is open to posts doing obvious selling with prices too while on this site it's supposed to stay in the for sale section.
The past arguments and conflicts over there have been amusing. You can cus there or curse. There's been a raging conflict about something every week!

I'm not saying the builder forum is bad.
Is not a personal matter either.
It's just that I prefer the information to be as free as possible and indipendent.
onloop is cool, today, maybe tomorrow he might delete some posts which he doesn't like, or maybe he will never ever do that.
On this site there is a smaller chance of that to happen.
I also like the fact that the other forum is better organized and nicer to look at.
But for me the aforementioned point is enough for me to don't use the other forum.

Its not the amount of threads its the quality of them and this place has people that regularly use the site with great scientific minds open to learning more and will help on topic at the drop of a hat. Its the community feeling that makes this place feel relaxed and home for an inventor.

don't knew what lures me there This site is beyond compare. There are people here in all the other categories that know so much and over there they are arguing about..something. Mostly arguing against the commercialism that comes with the site being owned by enertion. I'm there for that.

Hahaha, I feel those quotes sum it up nicely. Personally, I feel this site, being larger and covering a much broader spectrum, has about 100 times more knowledge. At a guess I would say about 90% of the users there are on these forums, while only 1% of these forums are on his. On this forum we have experts from all disciplines that keep an eye out and chime in. On our home turf, look at the VESC and how that has exploded in the bike section as well. The batteries are all the same, regardless of the vehicle. Many of the motors also cross over between all disciplines.

Some people here complain as to why E boards and E skates are grouped together, claiming boards are big enough for their own forum. I however feel the skates are by far the tag along. If the boards had their own section, what would happen to skates? How many of us boarders are interested in seeing where venarians skate's go in future? Those motors could be good. Both types are after a similar weight and power, so make sense to be included together.

To be sure, I prefer this forum. I feel enertions site is oriented around enertion products. All the images of "how it's done" are enertion products, down to the fact that he is labelled a "leader" while everyone else is nothing to an "elitist prick". His forum looks far more graphically pleasing though. I feel there are many people on both forums that know as much or more than he does, who also post regularly, but will never get the nomination as 'leader'. And I totally get it, you gotta hustle, push and promote your products to be successful. Enertion is by no means negative to the scene, I just don't like his style.

*Disclaimer* As a Designer/Machinist/Craftsman/Entrepreneur I feel there are many better value products on the market than enertion offers. I can get custom parts machined and anodised for cheaper than enertions, while this in any main stream culture would cause a company to go broke. He is cashing in on the unique-ness of Eboards. Thus, I feel his products are inferior to what can be readily made by the every day person, or purchased for far cheaper. Look at his "r-spec" motors, are they any different to HK's motors that are half the price? Maybe a different axle? sticker? Enertion pumps money in to his products to get them available before others, jacks up the price and markets extremely well to create the illusion of a premium product. Personally I would liken him to Donald Trump - markets very well, but full of hot air. In his credit though, he is un-apologetically forward with his products.

Bandaro- I bought enertions r spec motor back in Nov 2014, at least his website pics and description said that but when I got the motor It was HKs NTB 50-60 270kv at double the price. Funny thing today After a year on the shelf, I took the motor case off to find out why the magnets had come loose and slide up into the top. I saw it had been patched up once before because one magnet had some kind of blue adhesive and a small blob of it was at the bottom of the case. All the other magnets had clearish adhesive that clearly looked factory, the blue stuff was slopply applied. So either Jason bought the motor used or he sent me his used/repaired motor. I had spent a lot to buy almost a full setup from him at the time.

Thesse blue blobs, are also inside turnigy sk3 motors. I think it's part of the process when the magnets are placed into the rotor, and it's done from a machine. Afterwards the clear adhesive was added I assume, could that be the case? In any way I agree, this r-specs are totally overpriced :D

nordle- that could be but the blue stuff is applied over the clear adhesive, so I have to guess it was applied after the magnets were adhered, maybe quality control after the automated adhesion someone added more to missing spots. I did let Jason know on his website through the contact info, that firstly it was an ntb brand motor not even rebadged and the suspect blue glue.

The blue goo epoxy is used to balance the rotor. It's a good thing and comes on new motors
