Looks like a really nice, compact setup. Where is the battery mounted in the in-flight picture you posted? Between the pilot and the motor?
 
The battery sits in your lap supported by the risers - it weighs about 9 KG
 
So, does this launch off directly from the grass and how high does it go? I'm unsure what a 'thermaling height' is. Any idea what a reasonable expectation as far as distance might be assuming no thermals?
 
yes you can launch from flat ground
- you get about 20 minutes of climb at an 2 M/S climb rate
- you can probably stretch a cruise to 40 minutes at 40 KM/H

my paramotor is designed for self launching and then themalling ( soaring )
 
I really like the stated RPM of the motor, so no reduction system needed for the prop,very nice. The cage around the prop also looks very low drag, and maybe made of carbon? A very simple and clean design overall.
 
Re normal thermaling height, about 400 to 1000 feet is where one would be thinking about dropping the line if you're talking about a tow up situation. But you could hook into one lower if you're on it and the conditions are right... I've been sinking out and then gone from 400' off the ground to 11,000 in one thermal.
