Bought this controller on eBay. In the picture. There is one plug with no marking in English. I'm assuming this 3 wire one is for the throttle. Anyone know which wire is the signal, posative and negative. It's for a scooter so all I need are the battery, motor, throttle and brake connectors.

I would have guessed blue red black for the throttle (what does the sticker say?), not that brown grey black one.

You should see approx 5V between black and one of the other two wires (with battery power applied and throttle closed). The third is then the signal.

I would guess it's the plug these would fit.

In this picture this is the connector Im refereeing to. Its the only connector without a marking in English on what it is. Its a 3 wire, brown, gray, and black. Im assuming the black is the negative. Which one is the signal and which one is hot? This is for the throttle control Im assuming. True I can hook it up to a volt meter and test it but was wondering if anyone has used this particular model of controller.

I should mention I did use a YK-31 awhile back that did not resemble yours. There's an important lesson in the language of Chinese electric bikes/scooters.

The problem is I'm looking for a good picture of a hall effect throttle plug and it just isn't coming up. But that link is to what you should need. Of course it's Chinese and you never know when it'll be something strange, (As with your wire colors) so there's no guarantee that will plug right in. But there is a picture there of just the connector that also doesn't show the face, I feel pretty sure it'll plug in. Wild guess on my part that the brown will be + and the gray will be -.

Caveat on these three wiring illustrations. The Google images gives me distorted previews I can't read and my DSL is boggy lately, so they won't load in the next few hours. Maybe someone else can take a look and see if one really is right, but I can see it MIGHT be right. Sometimes they only say "Derailleur" instead of throttle, that'll be the one. I'm not an expert to begin with and this is BLINDLY guiding you.

You might find this interesting. https://sodien.wordpress.com/noderigi/throttle-problems/

hey thanks for all the links. yeah the wire colors are all over the place. I do have a connector that says derailleur but I'm assuming since I have a scooter that would not apply to me, however you might be right and the derailleur connector might be for the throttle. what I've done so far is to solder on some xt60 connectors for the battery connector on the controller. I don't have my motor it yet so all I've been able to do is plug in the battery and use a voltmeter to try and find the right controller for the throttle. since I'm running 2 6s lipos in series I have over 48 volts. so far the only voltage I can find coming out of the controller is the charging connector which reads 48 volts. I can't seem to find the 5-volt throttle connector wire. now since I don't have a motor connected to the controller yet and I don't have my throttle connected or my break maybe that is also the problem.
Once I get home from work I can test it.

I cant get the motor to turn. 48V motor 1000W and 48V 1000W controller. Once I shorted out the power locks connector, I was able to see 4.7V on the derailleur connector. Ive tried all different wire connections and cant seem to get the throttle to turn the motor. Heres what Im showing
48V on the charging connector
48V on the indicator connector
4.7V on the derailleur connector once the power locks connector is shorted
all tests done while the motor is attached

The thumb throttle is from a bladez ex350 24V scooter. The throttle performs fine on the original bladez ex350 motor and controller. Is it possible that the throttle is proprietary? Ive been trying to figure this out since last night. The 48V motor and controller are new. Any help is much appreciated.

I posted this in another forum on here but cant seem to figure out why I cant get my throttle to spin up my motor. Just posting in here for any help since this thread receives a lot of traffic.

I'm about the only regular here that's amused by these little scooters, though there's people who understand the whole technology better than I do.

http://manuals.monsterscooterparts.com/recreational/Bladez/bladez-ex-350-handbook.pdf

My very first thought - From a link I provided:

Throttles come in three types: simple ON/OFF, potentiometer, and Hall Effect

Just a guess, but wouldn't a Bladez have an on/off throttle? Not having any luck with a search on the subject here. (I did find a mention of someone else who couldn't get the YK31 to work on a Bladez.) I mentioned you need a hall effect for the YK31. I'm not aware of a way to make a different throttle work. Trying to think of who has had things to say about the YK's in the past, maybe Amberwolf and DrkAngel. I don't know who really knows Bladez. My own understanding I've developed is that when you replace a controller with anything but a perfectly compatible oem unit (Sometimes even then) you need a new throttle that is matched. Or you go through what you're going through. Not even all the Curries are compatible with each other.

I left hall effect throttle links above, I'm sure a search will readily turn out a wonderful variety.

Check that the throttle is showing 1-4V as you use it between black and white wires when powered.

If your throttle is an on/off type it will go from 0V to 5V which won't work. You can make it work using a couple of resistors configured as a voltage divider.

http://www.ohmslawcalculator.com/voltage-divider-calculator
VS = 5V
VOUT = 4V

R1 + R2 should be somewhere around 10kΩ (not very important as long as it's not several MΩ or less than 1kΩ)

VS is connected to throttle white wire, Vout to derailleur blue wire and Ground to the black wires.

On what the other connectors are for:
Charging connector is directly connected to battery input
Indicator is on when controller is on (for rear lights etc)

Edit: there's some information on this controller here: http://www.datriware.com/YK31C_mod_tuning It looks like your other three pin connector is for a three-speed switch.

Thanks for the input. Already had the PDF. Voltage across the throttle ranges from 4.51V to 3.67V as I squeeze the throttle lever. Im used to the RC world of things and think of the throttle like a regular 4.8V-6V servo. I assumed since it was a variable speed throttle that it would just mate up without problems. Are you guys saying that I need a hall throttle or just a variable speed throttle that outputs 5V? IS the YK31C controller only compatible with a hall throttle?

It's a rather odd voltage range. Unless it's wired incorrectly I would just buy a new hall throttle. The Wuxing 108X throttles are fairly good.

I would have expected the controller to go full speed when the voltage was around 3.7V - 4V.

You need a throttle that outputs a range from 1V to 4V. Only hall throttles do this by default.

Thanks for the tip. There are a ton of throttles out there, no question about that. Most of them however dont state hall throttle. I also see most of the throttles have 3 wires. Is there anyway I can tell if the throttle is a hall throttle? Most of the descriptions show 5V input. Should the description state 1-4V? Here is a couple I can prime of of Amazon.

One reviewer states it has the hall sensor and goes from 2V-5V
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0150T2KY4/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3VFX0XE2WN4BW

Heres another that I can get today
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016MLXRSC/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1THAZDOWP300U

I also dont have a fuse on the battery to the controller. Would that stop the motor from turning?
Any thoughts on which one might be compatible with the YK31C 48V 1000W controller?

Thanks, I ordered 3 different throttles. One of them is bound to work, lol. Amazon primed same day so I should be able to try it later tonight. Thanks for your help. Ill post back once I install them.

Awesome advice to live by, never take anything for granted. Per my post above, I ordered 3 different throttles. 1 of them has got to work, lol. 2 full twist throttles and 1 thumb throttle. They are all the 3 wire variety since I dont need a battery gauge on the throttle since I wired a 15V-120V voltmeter inline with the power connector. None of the throttles I ordered really states weather its a pot or hall type throttle. Im assuming either type of throttle will work with this type of controller. The original throttle that Im using from the Bladez ex350 is a variable throttle so thats why I thought it would be fine. Obviously not, thats what I get for assuming. Whether its a pot or hall, I have no idea. The voltage ranges from 3.68V - 4.51V when I squeeze the throttle a little to all the way in. I also dont plan on using a fuse since my lipos are balanced through my RC 1000W 40A charger. Per what flangefrog said, Ill assume these throttle are the hall type. Thanks for the help though and Ill update once the throttles come in later tonight.

Excuse me, I thought I had more than one hall effect throttle link. http://www.ebay.com/itm/0-5v-Hall-Effect-Twist-Throttle-Grip-E-bike-E-Scooter-Power-Wheels-Not-Thumb-/191775018106?hash=item2ca6ae8c7a:g:jFIAAOSwZG9WiunC If it doesn't say it's hall effect, it's probably not hall effect.

The ever stalwart DrkAngel has mention of the YK31 and even a plug illustration. (The pic of his unit look like mine.) I suppose this is at least interesting.
file.php

1. Throttle
2. Voltage monitor
3. Charging port
4. Key - power on
5. Brake disconnect
6. Brake light
7. Motor - power out
8. Battery - power in

The Bladez throttles came in 2 varieties. A potentiometer and an On-Off. If you are getting different voltage readings off it, it is a potentiometer.

Most all throttles now are hall effect, a few are potentiometers, but are usually quite pricey.

If you are not going to use the bladez throttle, I would be interested in buying from you.

Throttles came in last night and will try them out this morning. That above pic is missing a connector mine has 9 connectors, the derailleur connector is the one for me anyway that is outputting the almost 5V when the power locks connecter is shorted together. So the derailleur connector is the throttle connector on my YK31C. Here is a link to the motor and controller Im selling on ebay. Ill add the throttle to it as well. http://www.ebay.com/itm/282180619122?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649. Ill post back in a little bit to hopefully finally spin the motor with the throttle.

Success sort of. I got the motor to spin when the throttle is applied. For the thumb throttle, the input V is 4.35 and varies between .81V- 2.85V full throttle. The Full twist throttle input V is 4.35 and varies from .84V- 3.54V full throttle. The full twist throttle also has a another 3 pin connector. Im assuming this is for the other 3 pin connector on the Controller. Is that for speed governing? This full twist throttle also has a 3 position switch. Thats why Im assuming that. You know, I thought I was pretty smart with electronics and computer theory. Ive built many fpv mini quads for racing and robotics like my rc lawnmower last year. As well as wrote code for various things. However this rather simple brushed controller has beaten me down with its chinglish and different colored coded wiring. LOL. Im still missing something it seems because shouldn't the throttle Voltage range between 1-5V full throttle?

The voltage range is supposed to be around 1-4V not 1-5V. But that's with a 5V input. With an input of only 4.35V the voltage is not going to be so high.

I mentioned in an earlier post the other connector may be for a three speed switch. Refer to the schematic here: http://www.datriware.com/YK31C_mod_tuning

Got it thanks you did. Got the 3 speed governor hooked up now. Full twist throttle is at 4.35 VIN and varies from .84- 3.54 VOUT. That seems good to me. Coincides with the Controllers 1-4 VOUT roughly. Not sure why the thumb throttle only goes up to 2.85V though. Maybe that is using a sub par sensor for the throttle, Im not sure. Thanks for the help. Now Im on to fabricating a base-plate for the motor to sit on and lengthening the chain about 2 inches.

That is definitely the variable bladez throttle. It may be that the pot is bad in it.

If you aren't using it, since you bought new throttles, I will offer you $20 for it.

Thats the funny thing, when I used the BladeZ throttle on the Bladez controller it works just fine. I was driving the scooter with it yesterday. The VIN for the BladeZ throttle is 5V and VOUT is 2.5 -5V. Thats why I think it does not work on the yk31c controller. Thanks for the offer. I added the throttle to the bundle on the ebay page I have for it. If it does not sell, Ill sell it to you.
