here to report a very special mod and electric conversion of an old 4wheeled cycle with two cranckset and seatposts, made in the '70 to be used on seaside towns here in Italy; a pair of friends found it lost somewhere....
It has been stretched,
everything over the Bottom bracket's plane has been cut out, only the LH crankset is maintained, and a steering mech form a Piaggio Porter is used from the steering wheel to the front wheels with an old 90° mandrel, so that it passes under the platform the flat quargo is actually covered with, because the rider position is moved back and results far from the front wheels.....
It is used for heavy and large loads (you can comfortably put a scooter or a motorcycle on there) but mostly to perform musical live shows by a great crew of buskers here in Firenze (Florence) Italy.

Here some details of the electric and transmission conversion:
We decided to try a stoked G2 motor from Grin tech to stay near the pedelec rules here in the EU, (note that the Italian street rules define 4 wheels pedal cycles exactly as trikes and regular bicycles, staying inside the defined measures and mass limits for the category)
We Used a 3/4" and very long keyed shaft between the crank/motor, and the rear wheels, to restore the traction on both, because the left crankset (the one still alive) was only driving the left wheel originally. This very long jackshaft is also used, with staton inc. freewheels and cogs adapters, to integrate a derailleur set for both the pedal and the motor lines. At the shaft's ends we used another pair of adapters with cogs, to drive the original wheels with a short 1/8 chain each.
The crankset, originally with a lefty tandem style chainwheel, has been changed with a regular RH one to create the needed offset on the jackshaft from the pedal chain arriving and the final chain going to the left wheel...
The vehicle is equipped with a V3 cycle Analyst and a grinfineon controller, run smoothly with PAS and a thumb throttle integrated in the brake lever. It's able to climb high grades with a single rider, 2 people, and a very big load, with no overheat because the benefit of the double 6speed setup.
All the welds and related materials, derailleurs and dropouts for the motor/mechs mounting brackets as well as the vehicle itself, are recycled items, batteries are lipos, so, for a werk machine we can call it a low cost conversion, although, a 1000$ was spent for the trasnsmission/electric stuff.
I will upload some better pics of the finished vehicle and soon some stats from the bluetooth/gps app I still have for the Cycle Analyst.
