New lighting setup for BBSHD Fat

PRW, you're probably going to want a DC-DC buck converter - then you can run whatever lights you want.

ok, to run on 92v... I wired up 3 lights in series. Provides way too much light to run into traffic - will be for off road and where no one is around only. Top two are spot lights, bottom is beam. When facing it when it is on, it just looks like one massive light.

Can't you just point them down some more? If they are spots then that should do the trick.

Looks like you won't run out of light anytime soon.

the top two (spots) I can point down more. Still busy with adjustment, The bottom (beam) is more difficult, the base hits the forks which limits the angle to drop. I would need to dremel the fins off to get it lower!

todays idea: I decided that the 3 lights on the front, with the inability to lower the angle of the lowest light, was too extreme. I also prefer the lights as twin, higher up.

So, I used plasti dip (apparently it can handle heat up to 200 deg F) to coat one of the lights orange. This will go on the rear - provides a very noticeable, but not annoying, light. The bottom 2 pictures are facing straight onto the light.

I think that's the end of experimenting..

Why couldn't you use a voltage regulator to set the lighting voltage wherever you would like? You could tap of the main power and run a lower voltage on each light. Something like this:

That has a maximum input voltage of 60v - my battery is +- 90v?

Third and final try at light mounting, this time with decent brackets:

What brackets are you using there. I have the same bars, and that would be a great lighting solution. Thanks

I got mine from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/House-Tuning-4pcs-Clamp-Lights-Mount/dp/B01LWOIMIN

Jones H-bars Rock! Since I switched from straight bars to pullbacks I haven't had a single bout of arm pump or sore elbows!

Where are you guys getting the mounting brackets from ?

from here.... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LWOIMIN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_ep_dp_E7aBybPSAXCH6

as an aside, the mounting bracket that comes with the light fits perfectly across the rear of the saddle - where I used one of the lights for the rear.

Rather get the lights their own power source.

Where can I get a d.c. cable to attach them to this 12 volt battery pack. The pack in my link is my second option I am on ebay bidding for a 20ah pack.

Also are you guys using them for street use ?

Rigid fatback for the street is great if you like fatties. They are making mid fat bikes that night be a better choice. If road only, no snow and no sand, there are a lot of better choices. I just happen to like fat bikes anywhere.

I would love to get a fatty but the price of tires sucks the fun out of it. Specially street riding that where's them down super fast.

It depends upon what sort of tires you use:
Is that the Luna Lander Fork on there?

No, it is an RST Renegade. It's a decent fork, but not as supple as a Bluto. If I had a do-over I would have been better spending the extra money to upgrade to the Bluto. This bikes twin has a $95 Chinese carbon fork that is nearly as smooth! Given the stiction in the RST, I cannot imagine what the Luna fork feels like at that price point....
