New expression for ES... "Equity crowdfunding".

Wikipedia:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equity_crowdfunding

Equity crowdfunding is the online offering of private company securities to a group of people for investment. Because equity crowdfunding involves investment into a commercial enterprise, it is often subject to securities and financial regulation. Equity crowdfunding is also referred to as crowdinvesting, investment crowdfunding, or crowd equity.

Equity crowdfunding is a mechanism that enables broad groups of investors to fund startup companies and small businesses in return for equity. Investors give money to a business and receive ownership of a small piece of that business. If the business succeeds, then its value goes up, as well as the value of a share in that business—the converse is also true. Coverage of equity crowdfunding indicates that its potential is greatest with startup businesses that are seeking smaller investments to achieve establishment, while follow-on funding (required for subsequent growth) may come from other sources

Example? "Crowdcube" (and Wiki has an entry for this also):
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crowdcube

Starts off:
Crowdcube was established by Darren Westlake and Luke Lang in 2011 and is a leading investment crowdfunding platform. Crowdcube enables anyone to invest alongside professional investors in start-up, early stage and growth businesses through equity and debt investment options. The platform has a 300,000-strong crowd looking for more interesting investments. Investing in businesses on Crowdcube is free, quick and has no obligations.

To date, Crowdcube has raised over £185m for more than 450 raises and built a dominant UK market share of almost 50% of the £245m UK equity crowdfunding market.

Crowdfunding is an alternative method of financing a business, which allows everyday investors, professionals and venture capitalists to invest as little or as much as they like, typically through an online platform. It is where a community of like-minded people pool their money and knowledge together to back startup, early and growth stage businesses. Crowdcube gives everyone the opportunity to become ‘armchair Dragons’, building upon their own investment portfolio and supporting British businesses. Developed as an alternative to banks, business angel, or venture capital funding, start-ups can use the Crowdcube platform to obtain finance from the public.

Anybuddy on ES seeing this stuff? ZERO results right now in a search on Crowdcube for "electric bicycle"... or "electric" anything. Anybuddy here interested in making money selling ebikes? Just curious.

MUTE Multiple Urban Transport Evolution

We want to make electric scooters & bicycles immediately accessible for individual/commercial use without the constraints and costs of ownership at the tap of a button. Our bike supply programs are tailored to an individual’s or business’s needs.

Both businesses and individuals want to make a difference to the environment, reduce costs and have easy access to innovative electric transport.

Buying an electric vehicle for commercial or private use can be price prohibitive as electric vehicles are more expensive than petrol/diesel. There is also uncertainty with regards to maintenance, cost of replacement battery and obsolescence.

... anyway: MUTE takes on the student market in Australia via Student Edge:
https://www.crowdcube.com/companies...0uaDryBosQjrZPCzDPibAbYCqL_i91tkxi9Y1DHZTBSSa

Starts:
For a number of months MUTE has been in discussion with Student Edge (www.studentedge.com) Australia’s Number 1 student guild organisation to develop a relationship to supply electric bicycles and scooters to students on MUTE Programmes. Student Edge currently has 900,000 students on its database and is now looking to extend its operations in Asia.

The purpose for this discussion is that we could offer bikes to students at various universities through a platform set up by Student Edge. Services offered would be as follows:

1. MUTE supplies eBikes and eScooters on MUTE programmes to students.
2. MUTE provides job networks (part time courier jobs) to students on MUTE Programs.

Sounds like MUTE is going for some hundreds of thousands of their bikes and scooters.
