Jay, I'm trying to get hold of you - can you please contact me? thanks
Hey Peter,
Sorry I had a busy weekend, just catching up on emails and messages now.
PM sent

Almost ready to start welding this monster....just one more series module to make for the top, then the spot welding can commence. :D

It occurred to me the other day that once this 2.5KWhr pack is done, I will have the worlds largest capacity, longest range Fighter.
This is something I have dreamed of doing since I first bought my Fighter way back in 2011. 200km range is not something I will easily be able to have a problem with any time soon. :D

Cheers

Been following your battery build, but in never occurred to me you would have the longest range Fighter, But yah, you will.

Battery pack Envy... must be a few of us needing new packs by now. DIY option isn't possible for some of us, therefore bomber owners that bought new batteries please post up.
Where purchased?
What type of chemistry?
What cells?
What configuration?
Did you have to upgrade controller?
Amount of amps ..volts?
Need battery.. I've been commuting on my trusty old A2B Metro. Which sucks cuz I have to also use the train. On the bomber no train all 42 MI round trip traffic cutter.

Thought I'd throw this out there. Any stealth owners with battery building skills need a South Florida vacation?
Barter trade your skills for a couple of weeks in the Sun.
I'm half mile from Ocean.
Have other electric bikes to use. kayaks, surfboards,
BMX bikes with track 15 minutes away
Wife kid all welcome.

Yeah, the DIY option certainly does require some skill and a whole lot of patience. It's taken me years of tinkering and learning to reach the point I'm at now with the confidence to do this. My build is coming along nicely btw. Although I probably only need 2 layers, I'm going with 3 layers of 0.15x7mm nickel to give the lowest possible resistance across the series links.

If someone is really keen I would be willing to consider making a pack like this for anyone based in Australia as I have all the tools/knowledge now. It would not be cheap, but would probably not be much more than a new stock Stealth pack, and gives double the capacity of a stock pack.

Cheers

Wow what a good offer! I'd love it .... I'm on the other side of the pond but I live as close as you to the Mediterranean sea :D
In the next months I'll be building my own new Bomber battery and I'll use copper strips (0.2mm x 8-10mm?? TBD) for series connections with (as short as possible) nickel strip 0.2mmX10mm spot welded to the battery terminals. The battery will be 20S14P made of Samsung 30Q.

Hey Guys, Bomber just cut out during a hard ride, reset all good then died again when pushed hard again, any thoughts?

When you reset it, did you charge the battery before riding again?

No I didn't

Reset it again and charge it up. What I think is going on is the battery maybe starting to get old, and when you whack the throttle, you end up bouncing off the BMS causing the shutdown. If this is the case, the two best solution are to turn down the current a little. If you have the DC1, bring the current down to 4500w, if you have the CA, bring your amps down to 50 or so. This should resolve the issue.

Email stealth about new battery pack. They said I will have to send them controller for upgrades to be able to utilize the regen braking. What are the upgrades? Is it worth upgrading or should I just purchase new controller?
Which controller will work with ca3?

Hi,
i have a question. Which one is a better fork for the b52. The marzocchi 888 (2014) or the new dnm fork that stealth uses. I m getting a new b52 and thinking to swap my old bomber's 888 fork and install it to the new b52.

you will reduce your steering radius a bit with the marz forks because the triple clamps have more offset on the DNM, whereas the marz gets its offset at the dropouts..

In addition to what EMX Trials said, I have ridden both the 2014 Zocks and the DNM Forks that Stealth uses. In stock trim, the DNM is a better fork. That said, if you want to send the Zock fork to a suspension specialist, it will come back to you better than a DNM. The stock Zocks, specifically the 888CR fork, has some serious stantion tube stiction issues, I don't know why that is.

Missed this earlier, nice pack Duck!

Needed a break from building my new battery, so what better way than to take the Fighter for a quick spin after work.

My Fighter is hitting 6.5KW regularly now after I unlocked the firmware on my Mini-E and cranked the amps up to 90. When the motor is cold, it pulls so dam hard from 10kph-50kph I feel like the handle bars might snap.
I have noticed a bit of a creaking sound under load however. Not sure where to look TBH, but it seems to be coming from the rear end...sure hope it's not anything serious...but if it is, at least it's not terribly difficult to get things welded back together on these steel frames. :)

Cheers

What a coincidence CD. I went for a ride also earlier this morning. When I left, it was 12F. When I returned, it had warmed up to a balmy 14F. One thing I can say about the LG cells Stealth is using for the P7, they are not affected by cold temps as much as the pouch cells and Lifpo4 are.

I finished the easy part of my battery build...now for the hard part of the end to end modules.
If I just laid them flat, then folded them over the length of nickel would be far too long, so I had to place the modules at 90 degrees to each other in order to achieve the right length.

With a lot of double checking, trimming excess nickel and welding things only once in the right position, I finally managed to get the cells sitting nicely end-to-end.

DSC_4234.jpg

It took the better part of 3 hours just to do that one.

Now to do this another 3 times, plus the end link to the rest of the pack...good thing I've got some time off work. :)

Cheers

Pics 1 and 2, it looks like crap, but in pics 3 and 4, with everything trimmed up, it looks clean and neat. Awesome CD.

The funny thing is, I just got a new phone to replace my flip phone. Believe me when I say this, I went backwards. If you recall, before flip phones were around, cell phones just had a screen and number panel below it. Well, got one of those, check out the pic, it doesn't even flip.

Hardest part done on this battery:

And after I awkwardly join the end to end section to the main section is the second hardest part...all the balance wiring. I hate doing the balance wiring as I'm paranoid I might let the wires touch the wrong spot, or not order them correctly to the balance plugs, but having done it plenty of times before I know I can do it...it's just a matter of sucking it up and going for it.
Then I can do my first test charge/discharge.
I sure hope I don't have any dud cells...It's gonna be a royal PITA to swap out any duds in the middle.

Cheers
