Don't know how I missed these articles for so long

It has been such honor and a once in a lifetime experience to know Luke over the years... I have said from the beginning, that Luke is this generation's Edison!

It is fulfilling to see him have the laboratories, support and life to fulfill his love to search the limits of our creation.

I recently read these articles. It's great to hear that your skills are in such high demand and that you are doing so many cool projects. Good on you, it sounds like you are really living the dream.
Luke was very supportive of my first forays into this whole ebike thing and 5 years later we have a small business that provides for me, my family and several employees. I'd also like to think in our own little way, we're doing something good by getting people onto ebikes and have helped to move the whole scene along in some small way. Without Luke basically vouching for me, it would have been much harder to get accepted and win the trust of people back then.
I'd be honoured if i could bring you out for a few beers or whatever sometime, either in Shanghai if you ever get over, or on 1 of my trips to the USA. I never forgot the support you gave me back then and if there's anything I could do to help now, please give me a shout

The universe has been so incredibly kind to me, it's a pleasure to give back to all living beings however I'm able.

I ask the universe for the most challenging technical issues humans have encountered, and then tackle them using every bit of skill and experience I can gather until resolution is discovered. Technically, it was the ES member Farfle cutting me, who happens to be an impressively well trained and experienced trauma medic and vet-medic, and I was perfectly comfortable and at ease enjoying the unique sensations of the install process.

The day after install, an un-planned bicycle bunny-hopping contest occurred, and the superglue popped off and it bled and I couldn't feel the magnet inside anymore, until I experimented with a large neodymium magnet near it, and it felt like being shocked with maybe 150vdc range shock from elbow to spine. I left a mild magnet superglued to the back side of the finger and re-glued the cut closed and made an effort to be gentle with it for a few days to heal. For the first week I could only detect large magnets, and it gave me the sensation of being shocked, initially in my elbow, but then began to feel like shocks between individual ribs across the center of my back. I trained whenever possible by moving the magnet over my phone speakers and microphone areas, and eventually the sensation moved from feeling like shocks between opposite ribs in my back, to feeling like a unique sensation in my fingertip. By a few weeks in, I could just feel the AC charge lines of my DSR's J1772 station and know that it was pulling max current. I could also hold sphere or cube magnets and easily feel the shape of the torroidal field around them to see polarization axis. It was also by playing with some really big magnets showing how it would pull the skin towards it notably, it ended up bruising the skin over it and was painful to touch magnets afterwards for a few days. After that I could still sense AC current fine, but it was always a little uncomfortable, and the area over it stayed bruised/discolored. I don't even know when it came out, but one day I went to lift a paperclip with it and noticed they didn't stick anymore, and experimented with magnets and felt nothing from it since.

That prototype magnet used a plating of nickel coated with silver coated with Rhodium. My silver coating was intentionally grown heavy and dendritic because my objective was maximum nerve bed sensitivity. Rhodium has a medical history of staying electrically conductive and biocompatible in nerve tissues and having nerve tissues.

Having done it once now, with the intent to be maximum nerve bed sensory coupling, and loved the function of having an added useful human sense, I came away from it learning that the nerve bed couples really well, and you likely don't need a conductive spikey ball of conductive metal, though it did couple field sensation well.

Before my own came back out, I made a half dozen more with a better plating process that included alternating 4 layers of Gold and Rhodium and ending with a relatively smooth surface vs dendritic surface. These were installed in folks who all loved them for about 2 months or so before their bodies rejected them. Ending in gold or ending in rhodium didn't make a difference.

For this reason, my V2.0 will be plated in 4 layers of alternating Gold and Rhodium for corrosion resistance to encapsulate the magnet metal ions from diffusing out, and FEP polymer outer coating, and polished to be all smooth edges vs rough cylinder edges.

Happy to send coated magnets for free to whomever wants to beta, because getting making 1 figured out is >95% of the work of making a batch of a few after the process is figured out.
