Nyx frame, 273mm*40m V3 hub, and 650A

I wonder if its the new APT controller, the APT96800.

Not APT, though I wish them and every other controller mfg well.

I wasn't expecting this, but it looks like a new ASI may be the first controller for the bike. 8)

Luke, any updates on this build? Ive been looking forward to this for some time.

I figured Luke may be using the completion of this build as a part of his 2018 resolution

The ASI BAC8000 controller is amazing and will do 730amps phase current RMS, however it wouldn't quite package flat inside the NYX frame by a bit overly wide. :(

So I put it on the milling machine and experimentally cut into it until I found the threshold of cutting into the components inside, but managed not to damage it functionally. Woot!!

I was able to machine it so narrow it fits inside frame with plenty of margin for fitting cabling along side it even!

Maybe you can do an external heatsink thing if needed? 700 + amp I guess that will turn into some heat at the controller as well.
If you check one of the builds done by madin88 he had a clever solution where his adaptto was mounted inside the frame box and was connected to an alu heat sink sitting outside on the downtube section providing ample cooling.

That is one sick controller. Look forward to see what you can do with that thing. Should be some sick numbers. Planning any more trips to the drag strip now that you got a manly new controller?

Wow.....730 amps.....wow!

Tom

You said it. Glad Luke is getting around to getting this kick a$$ build going. Been waiting for the end result for a while.

You and me both!!

I want to see the guts as much as anyone. That orange cover is held on super well somehow. I will see if i can pry it up.

How does RMS for phase amps compare to the phase amps commonly quoted, like by Kelly? Since the energy can't just disappear, wouldn't RMS phase equal battery amps (excluding some losses obviously). I've done 500 battery side going into a 273x50 on 130lb ebike, but I weighed 80lbs more than now, so I know I couldn't handle 700+ with your trimmed weight and a light bike.

You gotta get back down. I'll build a bike for my 273 a bit lower and longer than your NYX, so you can put more power to the road with it. It's a whole new world down here since those underpowered ebikes we rode when you were here 8 years ago. You need a vacation anyway.

Stealing a movie quote, nothin but love my friend.

You rock John! It will be a pleasure to ride your recent ebikes exploring CR together.

Im so grateful for your bikes showing me hubmotors can be powerful beasts, a big inspiration behind doing this build. Thank you!

hello

do you have news because i have the same project

what kind of battery do you use for this project

thanks

Updates?

Vids?

How can you tease us like this??? :)

Any updates/ test results

He may have last *visited* yesterday, but unless he deleted it/them, he has no posts since June. :(

https://endless-sphere.com/forums/search.php?author_id=7638&sr=posts

Last time I talked to him was a while ago, but he was a busy man then; probably still is.

Damn, you're right. That's a shame.

Edit: It was a year between his last post in this thread and his last post on the forum. I wonder why he never elaborated further on this build. So many mysteries!

maybe the old story between luna and "ES" owners comes in play.

who knows....

mostly all "old dogs" from ES are gone....facebook groups grown everyhwere as a plattform for EV talk. easier to link, easier to handle, easier to publish stuff ...and the spheres forum has still a phpbb basic installation :p

Because he is a friend of Luna and Luna is not a friend of es ;)

Or he simply don't care about "us" anymore.... A simple message with "project closed sry guys".... Would be enough.... And no one is too busy for 10 sec ;)

Who knows who knows 8)
