Electric Surf Board
Re: Electric Surf Board
Today I tested my 3D printed jetdrive. Could not do any measurements, but gives a lot of power.

Hello toto44,
good video, looks like a lot of thrust for this small motor. Do you have a log of motor/esc power during this run ?

Hello,
i changed my carbon impeller to a 3D-printed steel impeller. It is really impressive quality and less vibration. today I will make first measurements of power consumption. Will provide results later.

how much did it cost?

Hello SRN
what pitch does your impeller have? Did you balance it?

Re: Electric Surf Board
hello guys,
i am still testing in my small pool.
now my remote control is working fine. Also the new propeller is doing a very good job.
here my current MGM log. I wonder that I have really small power consumption at 10.000 rpm. At the moment I limited the MGM to 10k rpm for testing. Will try 12k rpm in a bigger pool soon.

Hi
are you sure that there is really load on the system?
It seems to be really a too low power consumption.
Could be an issue of water mixen with air, less stress for the motor to handle / put through your jet...
On the other side, try to accelerate up to 14000, and measure the pulling force.

Hello, about electric surfboards, and more specifically to buy one. What do you think of these https:// awakeboards.com, is it worth investing?

Re: Electric Surf Board
It is absolutely clear, you have an issue with a mixture of water and air.
Normally you should have during ramp up by 10000 rpm something between 120-160 Amps.

Re: Electric Surf Board
Important, not the peak Amps....the real Amps from the battery
Re: Electric Surf Board
I see we all went ghost on this post
. It seems like we all figured it all out. I will be testing soon, in the fiberglassing stage then Gel coat. I will be making a mold and start producing DIY jetboards if things go well with my new design.

Here it is...
But they are really focused on Foilboards.
But still interesting....
At ropower any test rides done yet?
Looks short, really short.
I am interested about the feedback.

Re: Electric Surf Board
I did some progress and now only wait for vacation to do some water tests.
I especially modified my batteries. Now running on 48 pcs 20700 liion cells, 12S4P. Each parallel pack with own 60A BMS.
I also build a power distribution board, where I put in all battery packs and charger (for charging all of them simultaneously. It has a display with voltmeter, a hall sensor for current measurement and 8 additional capacitors.

Re: Electric Surf Board
I spent a year messing around with my jetboard, but every time i took it out, there would be some electrical problem. the esc kept blowing the caps, mgm are literally the wors company to deal with from a customer care perspective.
i made external caps banks, which helped, and made an additional watercooled heat exchanger for the esc, which helped again.
by now my batteries have been cycled around 50 times, and im starting to loose individual cells, so the packs need to be pulled apart and cells individually checked.
heres a video of the last run i did on new years eve https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QnzaSyV ... e=youtu.be

Re: Electric Surf Board
eventually i got so sick of the problems with the esc, mgm, and the cells, that i built a gas jetboard from a 2 stroke racing kart engine.
i know this is an electric power forum, but i hope you dont mind me posting a couple photos and video of the second jetboard i made.
here it is part way through construction
