la Nina rears her ugly head

Already tracking Sergio, the next in the series. A crap shoot as for wherever it ends up, as the Atlantic goes back to sleep in typical El Niño fashion.

Thunderstorm atop San Jacinto Peak but trailing towards the Northeast from Palm Springs Areal Tramway to Interstate 10 (the second red line on the map North of the border with Mexico). A few lightning flashes visible on top of the mountain, very impressive; ala Mt. Sinai in Exodus.
Nothing our way yet, but some interesting looking lenticular clouds towards sunset. 8)

Maybe it's like here in Phoenix, where my ride home from work last night started out in intense pouring rain that was filling the parking lot and streets as I watched, and then I passed the edge of it, there was suddenly no rain at all, not even sprinkles. Pretty much like riding thru a huge 3D waterfall and out the other side. Sprinkles started again soon enough, and kept that up to varying degrees all the way home.

By the time I was about half a mile or less south of the waterfall edge, most of the water had gone down from completely covering the road and sidewalks except the centerline crown, to where it was just hard to see the edges of the sidewalks in many places.

Rest of this is over in my SB Cruiser thread, as it's more that topic than this one. ;)

I picked up another 0.5" in about half an hour as one of those red spots on the radar passed over. Luckily the ground is so dry it's just sucking it up like a big sponge. I should have much better trail conditions this weekend.

Lots of lightning and a few sprinkles on the way home from work tonight.

Now it began raining here at the house. Oliver barked when it began, only growling at the thunder. :)
