gas price thread

I have no idea what the gas price is in Central Texas. I started riding my bike (regular bike, not my ebike) to work most days.
We now have one ev and one phev (and an ebike of course.) We get gas about once every six months. It's so rare that it's a way to entice the kids to take a shopping trip:

"Hey kids, I'm going to the hardware store. Want to go?"
"No thanks." (goes back to his book.)
"Come on, we have to spend some time outside today."
"No thanks."
"I'm going to stop and get gas."
"Really? Can I put the nozzle in? What gas station?" etc.

I was surprised to see $3.79 for regular unleaded. It was at a Chevron which is a nicer station.

They did say in the news that gas prices are at a 4 year high.

Yup, its only going to get higher with all the environmentalists blocking pipeline development in favor of rail and truck transport which fail too frequently.

2.80-3.00/gallon here in Utah..

Not that i care..

Hypermiling the most efficient econobox on the market today.. as discussed in the other thread :)

60mph average in the right lane.. in neutral on long 1% grade descents.. coasting to lights and anticipating the green.. standing on the pedal from the stop and dropping it into 6th gear as soon as possible at 35mph.. all the tricks, except the one where you shut your engine off

$2.49 / gallon, in Kansas where the 70 crosses the 77

I don't get why gas is over $1/gal cheaper there than here. Sure, the formulation is a little different, but not $1/gal different.

We're just getting ripped off more. Guess I shouldn't complain. Most other countries pay a lot more.

Just another reason to go electric :bolt: :bolt:

Tax structure. Differences in gas formulation. Distance to refineries. Things like that.

The federal highway tax per gallon is the same. The state fuel tax is low on Kansas. I think it's around $8/gal in the Netherlands.

Kansas is a low population density state. A high percentage of voters here are in some way involved with farms and beef-cattle.

$3.13 at the casino here in Oroville. And it's alky free.
