Surly Big Fat Dummy with L-R Big Block Mid Drive

Mike shipped my bike with a nonoperational speed sensor.

  • Magnet to sensor distance +6mm
  • Magnet face not aligned with sensor active area
  • Magnet mounted on spokes incorrectly[\list]

I shipped everything to Mike in two separate boxes. This was done specifically to reduce the mass of each box. Two boxes also allowed for additional packing materials, etc.

This approach resulted in one box weighing ~60lbs, the other ~40lbs.

Mike shipped everything back in one box.

I noted on initial assembly that the rear wheel was harder to assemble. Turns out the box took an impact that forced the rim into the frame so hard that it broke the tire bead and pinched the tube. This force moved the right side rear dropout ~4mm towards center.

If Mike had shipped my bike back the way I sent it, this frame damage would have been avoided.

Mike received my bike partially disassembled in two boxes on March 12, 2018.

I received the bike with the LR drive installed in one box on August 2, 2018.

4 months, 22 days.

LR charges - $1913.00

Bikeflights shipping - $357.40

What did I get for my $2200+?

There are additional defects, issues, etc. not mentioned as they are yet to be documented.
I am confident that I have introduced sufficient evidence into the record to say:

Nothing worked.

Hyperbole? Exaggeration? Unfortunately, not.

<EDIT 1: add links to defect list>

Well, you're both in the US, right?
Don't know if you have come to any agreement with the seller?

If not:
I think It is time to go the legal route and make a claim if you want to get this sorted. Either you can get compensated or not, who knows? seems to me like you have strong arguments.

Ready to return, just waiting for Mike to refund $1913.00 + return shipping cost.
