I had a good save today, light fluff and going 30kph/19mph and coming around a corner. My foot held me up as the back end slid out and my foot slid about 4-5' holding me up, basically a 180 degree turn around to a stop. I circled around and admired the tracks I made.

I should have taken a pic but there was a wind chill I'd say it felt like -10C.

You're gonna feel that tomorrow.

I never fell, it was like sliding across 4' of skating rink ice with your shoes on, still standing.
Like this guy but my foot was down, holding my weight up.
I do need studded tires to rip it up this winter.
I cued it up for you!

Style points, now if he could do that to a stop 10/10
That was the angle of the bike I had.

Last time I did put a foot down to save a washout, I broke a big toe stopping on the curb. :?

I recall flying high side once because of a foot down recovery attempt.

I usually avoid putting a foot down, but sometimes the natural reflex overcomes the riding experience.

Last week I took a turn too sharp in our bike trail parking lot (1/2 mile of twisty paths) and found myself going over the curbs, which are lined with large stones. The trike went right over them without damage to me or it. Suspensions really make a difference when you need them.

I had a near head-on incident with another cyclist (and I use that term loosely.) He didn't follow the rules of the road, and wound up in the cycle lane going the wrong way. So we are now "sharing" the narrow cycle lane closing at ~ 50km/hr, with traffic beside us. I hit the brakes as hard as I could and hugged the sidewalk. He somehow got by me; happened so fast I don't really recall the details.

They say cycling is healthy, gets the heart rate up, right?

When I was a newer rider, I almost hit a deer going down a big hill. I was close enough I could see and hear it's hooves slide on the pavement as it tried to get out of the way. I'm sure I surprised it. I take things slower now, lol.
